Symptoms of twins

To those of you that are pregnant with or have had twins, did you have pregnancy symptoms much earlier?

I'm just trying to find out the different between how women feel when they're pregnant with twins as opposed to a single baby. If there is such a difference.

Had DCDA twins after my singleton, I really felt no different in the first 12 weeks - no symptoms for the first 6-8 weeks (found out at 8 weeks it was twins) then extreme sickness. I was hospitalised with my singleton but was straight on medication as soon as I felt sick with my twins so couldn't say whether it would have been worse or not. Long story short, you will have no idea whether it's twins or not without a scan.

Ive only been pregnant with twins so can’t compare to a single pregnancy. I felt awful for a large part of my pregnancy, morning sickness throughout, terrible spd and pelvic and hip pain was so painful at the end. I was also massive. P

MCDA here, no morning sickness, no symptoms, feint lines on tests. It all went a bit tits up at 15 weeks bit worked out fine in the end.

I felt nauseous before I'd even taken a test!! Mine were via IVF so I knew exactly when they were conceived and when to test. Very different to my first where I didn't feel nauseous till about 7-8 weeks.

I had twins after a singleton. I was much sicker, and it didn't stop all day. I was in maternity clothes by 12 weeks, first time it was 5 months. Apart from that, I had no idea until the scan at 12 weeks.
They are now 10 and a joy Smile

did you all have a history of twins in the family too?

I had twins after a singleton and felt better with DTs!

Bit sicky but much better than with DD1, and went running till 28w!

Honestly don't think there are hard n fast rules.

clareykb · 31/12/2023 23:45

No family history of twins, wasn't sick at all, had major complications later on after 23 weeks all ended well though, they are excitable pre teens now! but no early symptoms really other than that I showed more than most people but still only after 12 or so weeks. Only actual clue in retrospect is that I did one of those clear blue pregnancy tests that tell you how many weeks early on and it said a week ahead which I'm guessing was probably due to higher hormone levels but nothing other than that.

My boobs went massive almost immediately, very early positive pregnancy test, extreme tiredness and starving hungry. It was a first pregnancy so I assumed it was normal and twins was a complete surprise!

Christmasapple · 31/12/2023 23:48

I had fewer symptoms than with my singleton pregnancy and actually worried it was a chemical initially as my test lines were so light.

I don’t think there’s anyway to know without a scan.

DancyNancy · 31/12/2023 23:53

Very faint test line on home pregnancy tests. Less nauseous than on my singleton. Complete and utter shock that it was twins at 8week scan.
I didn't even fully believe the scan until the next one at 10weeks where I could actually see both at the same time.

Never had twins but had an easy pregnancy with my son, then super sick from very early with the next pregnancy so assumed twins or maybe a girl? As it was so different. Ended up losing that sweet baby at 14 weeks, was just the one, don't know the gender.
Now 26 weeks with a baby girl and again, fairly easy pregnancy 🤷🏼‍♀️.

I think it's impossible to tell via symptoms etc as everyone and every pregnancy is different. I also get strong positives up to 5 days before my period is due, actually got the earliest positive with the bubba I lost xx
