I'm 37 and going into month 6...ive been doing everything right tracking, doing it every other day ...all the right times and its just not happening đŸ˜¢...im beginning to think something is wrong witb me and so scared to go and have tests...
Has around my age or older taken a while to conceive and not had any tests done

It took me 12 months at 26 to fall pregnant with my first. Then 2 months to fall pregnant with my second at 29. A lot of it is just luck. I’m not sure if age changes the guidelines but NHS won’t run tests until you’ve been trying at least 12 months. I was just starting to have thyroid etc checked when I fell pregnant.

Bex4567 · 28/12/2023 15:41

Yeah when ya 35 plus you can have tests done after 6 months

Took me a year, aged 39.

I then read (in a book about fertility) that older sperm hanging around have a better chance of fertilising the egg. So have sex before you ovulate. I'll try and find name of book.

Thankyou I've been doing it every other day up to ovulation for the last 5 months that's why I'm concerned nothing is happening

I conceived my 2nd at 36 using the Sperm meets egg method (Google it) and the clear blue fertility monitor. It was month 3 in total but month 1 of using both those things. Good luck x

Bex4567 · 28/12/2023 17:25

Thankyou I've done it everyother day for the last 5 months so there's no reason why it shouldn't work đŸ˜¢thabk you tho

Have you been to see your GP @Bex4567 ? I’m 36 and my GP said to give it 5-6 cycles and if it doesn’t happen they’ll investigate. You should be eligible for some investigation given your age too đŸ™‚

Month N°9 in TTC
We are a 30 years old healthy couple
Let’s keep hope alive …

curliegirlie · 28/12/2023 19:06

It's just random when it comes down to it, despite the best months in terms of efforts. DD1 took 16 months (but only 6 cycles after my thyroid issues were discovered) at 32, DD2 took 12 cycles despite my being on thyroid meds at 35. Now at 41 I've been TTC around 22 months since an early miscarriage following a surprise pregnancy whilst on the pill...

34, 18 months ttc, on a list of meds and supplements.

It may take a while OP, sorry. I'd recommend speaking to your GP ASAP. I get being worried about results but it's better to get on meds etc (if you need them) as soon as you can as age may be a factor.

I'd absolutely get checked out in your shoes. Finding something can be good too - they may be able to fix it! Turned out after 3.5 years ttc that my tubes were blocked but the force of the dye in the test they did unblocked them!

After that, it was month 1 with DC1 (aged 34), month 2 with DC2 (35), month 3 (38) but miscarried, 7 months (39) 2nd miscarriage, and 1 month DC3 (39).

Bex4567 · 28/12/2023 20:23

Maybe try less DTD! Sounds odd but my sister was on month 6 after doing all the same as you, every other day, every day etc, DH was working away this month and they only had sex twice (once way before and once on positive LH) and she got her BFP

Chocpot1986 · 29/12/2023 18:28

Hey lovely, without meaning to sound rude you are pinning everything on what is ‘wrong’ with you, but has your partner had any checks? I am also trying to conceive (you may recognise me đŸ˜ƒ) and I also thought something was up with me, went for lots of tests and everything seems fine. Frustratingly it can just take time xx

Kate3150 · 29/12/2023 20:25

Month 7 TTC here and losing hope each month.
Its really hard to be positive when your AF arrives each month.
It was easier to relax in the first few months now i just feel quite defeated by it all.

Bex4567 · 29/12/2023 23:31

Yeah definitely going to try and not think or trsck this month...its becoming equastng and being 37 I'm starting to worry

Which is exactly why you need to get checked out!

I would have thought the fact that you have both had children before (and I am no expert!) would be in your favour, but things can change and secondary infertility is a thing.
