Did you have a scan after your miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage in March. At the time I was sent home and told to take a test two weeks after and if it was negative, then the process was complete.

Since then, I've had very painful periods. To the point I'm cramping bad, sweating, and last night I was even sick. I took myself down a google rabbit hole and saw that lots of women had scans after their miscarriage to confirm it was compete. Just wondering if anyone knows if a scan is the norm and I should of had one?

Starting to worry the painful periods are a sign something isn't right.

Thanks in advance!!

I had a scan as soon as the bleeding stopped, which confirmed I needed misprosotol to complete the miscarriage as there was some remaining tissue. Then I had a scan about 3 weeks after the miscarriage I believe it was, they done the pregnancy test themselves while I was there too. She confirmed all was clear and looked fine to try again. This was in January/February. I'm 22 weeks with the next pregnancy now x

I had the surgery in June then a scan after which confirmed there was something left. EPAU didn’t care as they said technically i wasn’t pregnant anymore, told to wait for first period meaning it was all gone. Ended up in a lot of pain so rang them back end of July and they said they “presume” all is gone. Paid for a private scan which confirmed retained product. Had the medical management early August and they gave me a scan on the 20th Aug to see the all clear. If you feel like something isn’t right then trust your gut lovely x

I've had 2 miscarriages and I've not had scans on either of them. I had bloods to confirm hgc was dropping (when miscarriage was suspected) which confirmed they were miscarriages and I was told to take tests at home to confirm they are negative. They did say if they were positive I was to call the EPU back and they would have booked me in for a scan but I never needed to. Hope this helps and I'm sorry for your loss ❤️

Yes I did. I did a test 3 weeks later and it was still a very clear positive, although fainter than my other ones. I was surprised because I'd had a massive heavy bleed with palm sized clots so didn't expect it to still be positive. Rang the EPAU up and they told me to re test again in another couple of weeks which I did. This time the line was much much fainter but still visible. Rang the EPAU again who got me back in for a scan, which confirmed I still had retained tissue and was given misoprostol that afternoon.

Yes, I had a scan to confirm my miscarriage as it was happening (I self referred to emergency gynae when I started bleeding as I was already under their care, and they had me in for a scan that day) and then one 2 weeks later to confirm there was no retained tissue.

yes, privately - had natural miscarriage all happened within a few hours. Negative test just over a week later. I'd see GP if I were you, just to check.

Nope, had two miscarriages, one natural one surgical due to failed pregnancy and neither was I given a scan or bloods

IVFfirsttimer91 · 13/12/2023 19:26

Yes I had 3 scans after my miscarriage as the tissue wouldn’t pass even though I bled heavily for months

I had 3 scans to establish how much was still in (if any) and then at home pregnancy test later.

Yes but only because I had very positive pregnancy tests after surgical procedure. Retainer products diagnosed and had to have another surgical. This happened twice in a row. Utter nightmare. Hope you are ok OP.
