I think I'm getting ovulation pains but it's not sharp it's like a dull ache- same feeling when about to start period.

Anyone else?

Is this ovulation pain?

I have on occasion.

Google ‘mittelschmerz’

I used to (old) but on one side or the other. I found it useful when I wanted to track my ovulation.

Yep I do most cycles and I usually get a headache too.

My ovulation pain is what I think is in my cervix!

It feels like a dull ache and lasts for maybe 6 hours or so.

Yes, it was a tiny twinge when I was younger, but now it's more sharp and painful, like a period. Half the time I don't feel anything. The main marker for me is a migraine, yay.

When I had periods, yes but alternate months and only on one side. My grown up DD has exactly the same.

kat167 · 04/12/2023 08:28

I get that sometimes. Other months, it'll be a really sharp, sudden pain that only lasts at most a few hours. Some months, I don't really have symptoms.

I also sometimes get the backache/joint ache around ovulation that always get before AF arrives, but not every month.

braticus · 04/12/2023 08:28

Yes I do but on either the left or right side depending on which ovary I'm ovulating from. It's a constant pain for a day or so and can be quite painful.

I used to spot very dark brown discharge and have cramps around day 14ish. I got pregnant by accident in my early 30s when neither of us remember if we used a condom (we obviously didn't!)

Since I had my DS this has stopped happening. I no longer have that change around day 14 and have had lots of trouble conceiving again so I think it was probably a fertility indicator.

lemmein · 04/12/2023 08:36

I do. When I was younger I would get it so bad I wouldn't be able to walk. I still do, just not as painful as it used to be, more of a dull ache with an occasional stabbing pain.

I also get toothache 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yep I get every month without fail. I have regular scans due to a cyst and my pain correlated with which side I ovulated from.

My gynae said some people get it due to having nerves near the ovary. When the follicle bursts it releases liquid that irritates that nerve.
