Can you ovulate before a Hycosy/HSG?!

Hi all - I am meant to have a Hycosy on Tuesday (CD12) - I am CD10 today. I normally ovulate around CD15 - I have 30/31/32 day cycles - but decided to do an OPK this afternoon because I’ve had abdominal twinges similar to ovulation pain. Anyway my OPK is a LOT darker than expected; it’s not the darkest line I’ve ever seen but DH agrees it’s as dark as the control line. I’m now worried I’m going to ovulate before the procedure on Tuesday morning. Will they still do the Hycosy? If so, will it not just flush the egg out and have I potentially wasted another month? 😔

Yes, the scan usually takes place in the first half of your cycle and you should not TTC that month.

I haven’t been TTC this month so far I’m just frustrated that I might be ovulating so much earlier than expected and so might be out for the whole month…

@hopingforapeainapod you likely wouldn’t conceive the month you get the test anyway, even if you ovulate afterwards. As Stellar says, they actually told me not even to try! Something to do with the dye being on the lining of your cervix, obv it doesn’t just vanish so some residue remains until you shed your uterine lining at your next AF. So don’t be too sad - it likely wouldn’t happen anyway, but it’s not a wasted month, it’s a step closer to figuring out if there’s anything going on you might need some help with. Good luck! X

Hi @Amy259 ah I didn’t realise that - my clinic told me to start trying again straightaway after the procedure and I’ve read lots of stories about women who finally got their bfp that same month! What you say makes sense though…
