Hello

So new to this after 3 years ttc. I think im 18/19 dpo and tested 7 times (crazy I know) theyve all shown a second line but all faint and its not getting darker or doesn't seem to be.

Should I be worried or am I frantically testing too early? X

Are you late for your period?

Yorkshire2022 · 03/12/2023 20:18

I'm quite irregular at the mo but yes I'm a day late today if I go by my recent 4 cycle lengths I'm 4 days late if I go by my regular cycle length

I still am having erratic tests, most of which are VVFL or negative but 25 days late. Until AF comes, don't count yourself out. But do book in for bloods/early scan if possible if it goes past 2 weeks late. In the meantime, keep resting 🤞

*Testing

Your HCG should double every 48 hours in early pregnancy. So if you can, try to only test every 48 hours and you should then see a clear progression if all’s well. If you test more frequently, the variation can end up causing you more stress.

It is still very early days so try not to worry.

I know that’s easier said than done! I totally sympathise with your desire to keep testing. I’ve had a chemical pregnancy and knew something wasn’t right as the line just never got really dark - it stayed light for 7 days and then I started bleeding, and following that the tests showed negative.

When I’ve had successful pregnancies the line does develop and gets steadily darker, but I’ve also caused myself loads of unnecessary stress by testing too frequently.

keeping fingers crossed for you!
