Hoped I’d be pregnant in time for Christmas… and now won’t be :(

Anyone same?

We have been trying since October. 2 cycles officially but one cycle before that we weren’t preventing so I guess you could say 3 cycles

I previously conceived immediately, one time, and had a termination as I was younger and less financially prepared. We are mid 20s so time should be on our side but there is nothing and my cycles have slowly become very long (40 days) too. I ovulate around CD23-24.

it will sound stupid but I’d imagined being pregnant in time for Christmas and now that won’t be the case. The months feel so long, don’t they? :( anyone else the same?

It’s horrible. I’ve been there. the passing of time and seeing events happen and other people fall pregnant and their babies grow is the worst.
How long have you been trying?
time for a really good Christmas with all the food and drink!

Only a few months now. but conceived immediately and quite by accident (terminated) previously. It seems like its punishment for that but I know that’s a silly way of thinking x

Hi Jajatree. I am sorry to hear of your delay in conceiving. I have not conceived for 13 cycles and I had really hoped this would be ‘baby’s first Christmas’. It is as hard as you say it is. Christmas is a massive reminder of family so I think it is natural for it to trigger sadness about pregnancy.

I know this does not really solve your issue but I suppose all you can do (and this helps me) is to focus on things you maybe couldn’t do if you were pregnant. Allow yourself drinks, hair dye, hot tubs, soft cheese, sushi etc. Not to make this about me but just for some examples: I’ve focussed on getting a new job (not impossible if pregnant but harder), starting running (not impossible if pregnant but harder) and becoming a seafood connoisseur.

If you don’t conceive for a year then get a semen analysis for your partner and hormone blood tests for yourself. Or you could go private and get them now. Maybe it would reassure you. I hope you get your much longed-for baby as soon as possible xx

Definitely not punishment. You did the right thing at the time. Try tracking ovulation using clear blue ovulation test sticks. This will really help you to conceive. Also try pregnacare vitamins. Maybe these things are still on sale from Black Friday or Cyber Monday?
