7 days spotting before period after chemical pregnancy?

Hello,
I had a chemical pregnancy/very early miscarriage in august.
But each cycle since then I’ve had spotting from about 6dpo, for about 6 or 7 days until my period starts. This has never happened to me before and I’m worried the pregnancy loss has triggered some kind of hormonal imbalance. Also worried this means it’s impossible to get pregnant if I’m starting to spot so early!?
Has anyone else experienced this?
I’m 31, trying for first baby. Have lean pcos but cycles are ovulatory (I track bbt and cm) and 37-43 days ish so not crazy irregular, and we were lucky and conceived that first pregnancy first cycle of trying.

Any advice/experience much appreciated, thank you!!

With a long cycle like that it would make sense if you have prolonged spotting leading up b to AF.

Could also be that you ovulate earlier than your estimates. Just my guess though.

Sounds like progesterone is low much earlier than it should be
Maybe worth speaking to GP to see if you can have bloods done and possibly measure this around these tiles of the month

Sorry for your experience :( x

Itsrainingfrogs · 27/11/2023 10:48

I thought that might be the case too! Dr says they can’t do any blood tests until 3 mc’s which is crazy. I think I might have to go private to get some answers :(

Thank you for replying x

@Itsrainingfrogs I appreciate this is what the current guidelines are however if you can try and persist .. do.
I had two MMC and spoke to my GP explaining that although I wanted to try a third time - it would have had a very difficult and significant impact knowing I'm going for it when it may be a loss in order to investigate it rather than doing all I could to eliminate very simple things such as low iron or anything to do with my thyroid/progesterone etc

But I know it's emotionally draining to keep persisting. Of course try the private route too if you can - there were plenty of threads on here for the best people/doctors to go to

I wish you luck x

Sorry to hear about your experience :( but thank you for sharing and good to know that you were able to do persuade your GP! This gives me hope. Thank you for your advice x

Hi,

im sorry to hear about your experience. Im going through a similar thing currently and am also 31 trying for our first baby.

are you still experiencing the spotting before period? I had a miscarriage in June and chemical pregnancy last month and have started to spot 8 days before my expected period. I usually spot a few days before and have been told I have PCOS but I have found after my miscarriages that my periods are different and I’m spotting a lot more. I hope youve managed to get some answers since your post!

Itsrainingfrogs · 24/01/2024 13:23

@SunshineHope92 sorry to hear about your losses :(

I actually went to the doctor earlier this month because in Dec I had heavy bleeding before my actual period. She did a pelvic exam then and there at the appointment, everything was fine, and then sent me for an ultrasound scan which I just had this morning.

Was hoping the person performing the ultrasound could give me some pointers but he just asked “do you get pain on your left side?” (Which I don’t) and said results will be with my doctor in 5 days 🤷🏻‍♀️ so I’m still none the wiser! But very curious to get the results.

Hoping to get hormone levels checked as well as progesterone after the scan results 🤞

Will keep this thread updated! But in the meantime I would push with your doctor to have further investigations since the prolonged spotting is so different to your normal. Just to rule anything out! Xx

@Itsrainingfrogs ah I hope everything goes okay with your ultrasound! It’s always frustrating that they don’t give you the results there and then, especially if you’re a constant worrier like me lol. It’s good that your doctor is helping though and to get all hormone levels checked.

My spotting has stopped now and according to my app I should be on now but going to wait a few days to see what happens. Why are the female bodies so complicated?! Haha x

Itsrainingfrogs · 25/01/2024 18:11

@SunshineHope92 thank you! It really is, I’ve been Googling like crazy 😂

That’s good that the bleeding has stopped! Do you think it could have been implantation bleeding?

I’m 8dpo and no bleeding as of yet so I’m feeling cautiously optimistic that I might have more of a normal cycle this month?! Usually I’m spotting by now. We shall see xx

@Itsrainingfrogs oh gosh, you sound very similar to me haha. My partner says to me most nights ‘what are you googling now?!’ I always feel like I’m diagnosing myself after reading google 😅
so I did actually do a test last night and had a faint second line but where I’ve had chemical pregnancies I can’t bare myself to do another one as the stress of it all is too much. I’m going to wait a few days and see if I bleed. The anxiety after miscarriages is just another level!
ahh that definately sounds promising 😄keep us updated xx

Itsrainingfrogs · 25/01/2024 18:39

@SunshineHope92 mine says the same! 😂

Tentative congratulations on the second line! How many dpo are you? Have everything crossed for you for good news in a few more days 🙏

I know how you feel, I think if I get pregnant again I won’t be able to relax until they’re actually here!

I will do, hope that the next few days go smoothly for you xx

@Itsrainingfrogs they’ll never understand haha!

Thank you, I’m 13 dpo. I tested early last month and my lines got progressively fainter the more I tested so I’ll just wait to see what happens over the next few days.

I’ve also been given progesterone pessaries as a consultant I saw said that repeated miscarriages can be due to low progesterone so this might be something you can speak to your doctor about 😄 xx

Itsrainingfrogs · 25/01/2024 19:54

@SunshineHope92 that sounds like a sensible plan! Good luck - keep us posted :)

Ah that’s good to know- I am hoping my doctor will refer me for further tests after the scan results (whether they find anything or not) so will definitely ask for the progesterone xx
