Anovulatory Cycle

I wondered if anyone here knew about this?

"By definition, an anovulatory cycle is a menstrual cycle in which ovulation fails to occur. This means that you do bleed but do not release an egg or ovulate. Hence the term anovulation. This is normally supposed to happen during menopause. If it does happen before then anovulation translates into difficulty in conception or infertility. Anovulatory cycles tend to occur occasionally throughout the childbearing years, but are most common during adolescence and in the years before menopause ("perimenopause"). "

I am not pre-menopausal but I wondered if I have been ovulating every month or not. I have a short cycle and have never missed a period, so should I just assume that I am ovulating if I get my period regularly and that perhaps I am just testing at the wrong time? Have been testing since CD10 and am now approaching CD16 with no sign of ovulation.

OP OV

have tried removing the high temps at the start of the cycle and it makes no difference- still says no ov detected all the other temps seem ok.

looking at my other charts though, my temp is low though. does it vary month to month or does your temp generally stay reasonably the same after ov. cos last year it was about 36.8-9 after ov, not 36.5.

wanttohidemyname · 10/03/2008 23:20

have used clear blue tests.

wanttohidemyname · 10/03/2008 23:23

I thought perhaps those 4 high temps were the ones that looked a bit 'rogue'

BigBadMouse · 10/03/2008 23:28

desparate stab at making sense of it - have you tried ignoring the temp on day 15.

Pos LH with a clearblue is a good sign

Not sure if post OV temp is always the same - I thought not but can't remember for sure

wanttohidemyname · 10/03/2008 23:30

have taken that out- crosshairs make ov fall on day 11- BEFORE my + opks!!!

am not temping anymore!!!

BigBadMouse · 10/03/2008 23:34

yep, but did you OV test on day 11? I used to get pos LH surge for days after I had OVd - quite common you know.

you see you have dodgy temp and missing temp just after the OV date so that won't help you get your crosshairs - it would take longer to detect as FF like to be very certain IME

wanttohidemyname · 10/03/2008 23:38

I did test on day 11. no line. i like to line my tests up and write date on in biro- have just fished them out the bin

Oh you are so sweet trying to interpret this for me!! I'm gonna put it down as a lost cause I think!!

Just out of interest- did temping work for you and you got your baby?

BigBadMouse · 10/03/2008 23:44

Aww...don't give up - someone far better at this sort of thing than me would have had this chart sorted for you by now.

Yes, I temped, used OV sticks and charted CM - he's due 18th May.

I'm so very lucky. Last three were all unplanned but lost the third one early on and after that it took a good while(can't remember how long now) to get this one. Funnily enough he was conceived on what looked like a very dodgy cycle - we had decided to give up after that month too.

Best of luck to you.

Sorry to butt in, but have been using OKPs for the first time this month (mix of Clearblue 'one week only' and Ebay specials). didn't get a thing, bar maybe a very pale line if I squinted a bit around day 11. Could have sworn I had ov pain on day 9, and on about 10-13 cervix seemed prepared and ready to go, plus EWCM. Afraid I didn't bother with temperature maybe next month if there's no BFP! I'm just presuming I missed my surge...

wanttohidemyname · 10/03/2008 23:47

bigbadmouse- is this your first baby??

jaype- i'm starting to think sex every day is the way to go!!

BigBadMouse · 10/03/2008 23:50

No, he's my third baby - 4th pregnancy.

Every other day gives you a better chance apparently, more chance to recover stores IYSWIM .

I didn't mind temping but for some reason it really stressed my DH out. I found it all quite fascinating and it felt as if I was doing something positive. I think if you have to do it for any length of time then all that changes though.

I think the best way to go is do what is least stressful whatever than might be.

BigBadMouse · 10/03/2008 23:52

btw - I missed my surges for the first two months - was testing at completely the wrong time. My body hadn't read the manual and was OVing when it shouldn't have been (according to the clearblue instructions). Thats why I moved over to cheapy ebay sticks - was getting expensive!

wanttohidemyname · 10/03/2008 23:53

oh no- have just seen profile

I have a daughter too with previous partner. she is 5 soon. We have been trying for 8 months properly, 15 months unofficially. am starting to get a bit stressed!!

DH has had tests done-has low sperm morphology but high count so clinic not worried at all- which is what concerns me bout this chart, is it me thats the problem???

BigBadMouse · 11/03/2008 00:01

Try not to worry and get stressed or you'll make your chart go all wobbly . You have pos OPKs and thats no bad thing remember. I still think you have OV'd this cycle around day 12/13 but your dodgy temp taking around then has masked it.

Good luck
