14dpo, two days overdue, BFNs for days, so many symptoms, feeling glum :(

Feeling a bit discombobulated, hoping for advice or to know the outcome of any similar situations. I am on 14dpo, with my period 2 days overdue. I’ve been testing with cheapies, all BFN, maybe the odd squinter. Today I got some Boots early detection and Clearblue early detection at lunch (so not FMU), and both were BFN. I have had symptoms for days – lower abdomen twinges that are further forward and lower down than AF cramps, much milder and more tingling than cramping, a constant lurking headache, sore nipples, a couple of nose bleeds, etc. Then today my sense of smell has kicked into overdrive, and I had what I think must be implantation blood – a small glob of brown bits when I wiped, very different to anything I’ve had before or on a period. If anything my symptoms are intensifying, the headache is quite bad, and I’m a library hating people about three meters away with perfume and coffees… I’m feeling quite down about it now, thinking that this timeline is not a promising one even if I do finally test positive tomorrow. Trying to hold onto hope with the thought that if the blood was brown then it may be quite old, that the symptoms have been around for days so maybe I implanted on a normal timescale but have low baseline HCG or drink too much tea, and that I didn’t do a FMU test with the sensitive tests, but should I stop trying to find reasons to hope? Help!

A few years back, my best friend was 4 days late and tested negative. After 2 trips to the shop and 4 tests, she was feeling a bit defeated. We went out for a couple glasses of wine (turned into a couple bottles between us of course) and after a 2 day hangover, tested again and it came up positive. That baby is now my absolutely brilliant god-daughter.

All that to say - no losing hope just yet. Fingers crossed for you!

Thanks for this, whatever the odds are it's nice to hear positive stories! I've hardly been drinking while TTC, but if this cycle falls through after all this am definitely planning on a drink or three... I'll wait until I have not just many BFNs but a full and definite visit from AF before I get started to avoid the possibility of a BFP while hungover!

My husband and I have just started our TTC journey so I don't have any stories for you yet. Literally this is baby 1, cycle 1. But I'm glad my friends story could make you laugh a little! Baby dust to you x
