What does everyone think of this? My line at 12dpo is darker than today at 14dpo

This might be a better picture

I wouldn't worry, your 14dpo test still looks like a nice strong positive! You're still very early on, and two days isn't much difference at this point. Sending sticky baby dust, just in case ✨

HannahT93 · 23/10/2023 08:02

@Firstbaby1234 those lines look good to me! My line progression early on was fairly slow too and then had a big leap - I’ve attached a photo. Good luck! 😊

Thank you, it just made me really worry as 12dpo is darker, I’m going to leave it a few days/ until next week to test again I think. When did you refer to the midwife/gp?

OP posts:
Natty83 · 23/10/2023 08:31

Try not to worry, appreciate that's easier said than done but those tests are designed to just show a positive or a negative not a quantitative reading, and loads of things can affect how diluted the hormone is in your urine day to day.

Natty83 · 23/10/2023 08:34

I will look like a mad woman sharing this but I think it might help - this was my "progression" 13dpo-18dpo and I'm currently 33 weeks with this pregnancy. Line darkness jumps about all over the place. And don't test as much as I did, I am a mad woman.

Thank you for sharing @Natty83 it’s such a worry! I am stepping away from the tests and might test again in a weeks time or I will drive myself insane! It’s the day of my missed period today so I’m just hoping that’s a good line!

HannahT93 · 23/10/2023 09:16

@Firstbaby1234 i referred at 16DPO (2 days after my missed period). Just so you know, my test got fainter from 11 to 12 DPO. I think when you’re so early on, the time of day you test makes a big difference. You’ll be fine!

Firstbaby1234 · 23/10/2023 09:20

@HannahT93 thank you, I took both them tests with first urine of the day. I have rang my GP as I was ringing this morning about something else so I quickly mentioned and the receptionist advised that you should self refer as soon as you get the positive pregnancy test and gave me the link.

husbandcallsmepickle · 23/10/2023 09:24

I only ever tested once, got a positive, self-referred to maternity unit. No need to call GP.

Firstbaby1234 · 23/10/2023 09:36

@husbandcallsmepickle thank you, I have now self referred using the form online.. I should really stop testing instead of getting caught up on the lines getting darker. My line looks ok for 14dpo doesn’t it?

OP posts:
PinkRoses1245 · 23/10/2023 09:47

They look the same to me, I only got faint positive at 15 dpo. It's self refer to maternity services in my area, I'd wait a couple of weeks though as they don't see you usually until 8 weeks.

Elishattc · 24/10/2023 00:52

Can I just say. At 13dpo my test was lighter than 12DPO I was a mad woman and went to a & e with slight cramps and because of the lighter test. 4 days later and 4 hcg tests later im absolutely fine touch wood so far. If you’re worried ask for 2 HCG blood tests and see if they’re doubling. One thing I would say and what I’ve stopped because it caused so much stress. Do not test everyday, check bloods with early pregnancy. Try relax and remember you ARE pregnant. Really hope it’s all ok 👍🏼 😊

Firstbaby1234 · 24/10/2023 07:47

I took another this morning at 15dpo and still not sure what to think, it could be slightly darker? But then again it could be my eyes

15dpo is definitely darker.

Dont forget the lines look darker when they dry too, so a “fresh” test won’t always look as dark.

letitgoh · 24/10/2023 09:39

Progression does look slightly slow but id say this mornings is the darkest yet. Leave it to dry & see how it is & also it may be that you test darker in the afternoon/evening, it's pretty common. I wouldn't worry yet!

Firstbaby1234 · 24/10/2023 10:13

Would you test again? And when?

OP posts:
letitgoh · 24/10/2023 10:19

@Firstbaby1234 I have no control whatsoever so if it was me I'd do a hold from now & test about 4, I found I got darker tests in the afternoon. But if you ask most others they'd say to wait until tomorrow (or probably longer).

Firstbaby1234 · 24/10/2023 10:24

I don’t have any tests left! I will have to order some on Amazon to come for tomorrow.

OP posts:
Firstbaby1234 · 24/10/2023 10:30

I am going to try and hold out until Thursday morning as I will be 4 days passed missed period

OP posts:
Kellyaust · 24/10/2023 13:17

It's because you're taking pictures comparing the lines at different stages of development, to get an accurate line progression you need to take a picture of the test after the same amount of time then compare the pictures. In your last picture 14dpo isn't lighter than 12dpo anymore... Because it's the day after. The lines darken as they dry.

SofiYol · 24/10/2023 13:17

HCG doubles every 24-48 hours, you’ll be better off testing every other day

Firstbaby1234 · 24/10/2023 17:05

i have also been doing these cheap strip tests aswell

letitgoh · 25/10/2023 09:49

There's more of a difference between those strip tests 13-15 than your FRER, so that's good!

Firstbaby1234 · 25/10/2023 10:38

Going to take another FRER in the morning and hopefully will see a difference! The strip tests do seem darker
