Had to do an emergency stop 5dp5dt. So worried it’s effected the outcome!

Hi all,

this is my very first time posting in a forum. However I know they have been very helpful for people so hoping for some reassurance. My first time doing IVF ttc for years. On 5dp5dt i went out with my partner and he had to slam on it was a real shock as I wasn’t expecting it and quite a jolt. The morning after my previously very sore boobs were no where near as sore. I’m so worried now it’s all over. I’m desperate to test early now. Will be 9dp5dt. Any advice or reassurance would be amazing!

The embryo would have been safely protected. The uterus isn’t an empty space, the embryo is sandwiched between two soft sponges so it won’t have been shaken about like a ping pong ball in a bucket iykwim.
Wishing you lots of luck!

Please don't worry about this. It will have made no difference whatsoever.

Ems1992 · 22/10/2023 13:25

The embryo at this stage is less than 1mm. It’s got a whole lot of stuff around it to protect it as PP said so I wouldn’t worry

Haha thanks so much @TheyreEatingThemInNelsonAndTheBluff I love the analogy of the ping pong in a bucket. Thanks for the reassurance it’s so helpful! Nice to hear people understand, my family just think I have gone mad! X

Aww thanks @Ems1992 its so good to hear. You kind of know that in your head but because they say be careful with exercise and lifting you think gosh maybe the big jolt would have made a difference.

Being careful with exercise is to protect you, it doesn’t affect the baby. Your ligaments become softer, so you’re more likely to injure yourself. The idea that exercise can harm the baby is an old wives tale.

The baby can’t just fall out from a jolt, even in late pregnancy. Have you noticed how much hard work childbirth is to get the baby out? 😁 In the early stages, the fertilised egg or embryo is tightly contained and then embedded after implantation. Your body being shaken about makes no difference at all.

Thanks so much @FictionalCharacter . That’s so good to hear. I didn’t actually know the reasons for the exercise rule. So pleased I actually started this thread I was apprehensive as I haven’t done it before but so nice that you and others have taken time out to reply and reassure me. Especially on what feels like quite a lonely and stressful journey. You feel like you are going mad at times!

Imagine it as being in a jam sandwich stuck in the jam.

Haha thanks @ginandtonicwithlimes that’s a good way to picture it. Hopefully it was well and truly stuck!
