Hi I just wandered how people concieved.

We did it every day the first month
Twice a day alot of the days and didn't concieve...then month 2 every other day ,every day on the peak ppk days for 3 days dodnt concieve ..
Now we're going to to every other day thw same but not sure why it hasn't happened.
Has anyone done it in a percific pattern or is it literally pot luck lol

I think I’ve read if you do it too much the sperm hasn’t had time to replenish so a lot of what comes out is just fluid. I thought every other day was better? When we got a BFP we dtd Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, I ovulated on Thursday or Friday.

But even in a perfect cycle if you do everything you’re supposed to, the odds are only about 25% I think of conceiving, so it might just take a few months (or longer). It took us 4 cycles properly ttc.

I personally know 4 unrelated circumstances, women who conceived using the sticks that tell you when you're 2 fertile days are. The machine is about £100 on Amazon.

Your (stupid bossy autocorrect)

Definitely try every other day as that should help with sperm quality. I think people who follow SMEP do every other day from day 7/8 then once they have a positive ovulation test they dtd for the next 3 days

Anyflippingname · 15/10/2023 20:33

Every other day, according to a leading fertility doctor I spoke to.

Dedsec2023 · 15/10/2023 20:55

Some people say it's a good idea to try every other day because it gives the man's body time to make new sperm. This way, there are enough sperm around when the woman is most likely to get pregnant.

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 15/10/2023 22:52

My friend looked into this and did every other day and got pregnant v quickly

SnookyPook · 16/10/2023 00:45

Last month we did a mild version of SMEP (missed the last two DTD days) and conceived but had a CP. This cycle we had a poorly toddler who prevented us dtd as much as I'd hoped. We only DTD on peak opk and the day after (presumed ovulation) and... Got a BFP.

I think it's luck of the draw... But every time I've conceived I've dtd peak opk and O day. 👍🏻

My recent experience, we were doing it everyday in a fertile window sometimes twice a day and did not fall pregnant. I decided to take a relaxed approach stopped the ovulation tests and have sex when we felt like it. We only ended up having sex once in the fertile window due to my husband travelling with work. This is the month I fell pregnant! You could have knocked us down with a feather. I am not saying the relax approach is for everyone as it was easier said than done but it worked for me. Good luck x

Swirls346 · 16/10/2023 07:53

I personally don't think it makes a difference , it's just luck.
This month we tried every day (2 days before ovulation ) and then day I got a positive ovulation strip we did it twice and then the day after too. We did conceive but ended in a chemical pregnancy. We do have fertility issues though (MFI and PCOS)

Thankyou all for your replys will do the every other day approach I think trying not to test, symptom spot or anything this month as was convinced I was pregnant last month and wasn't 🤣...the mind plays tricks on us for sure...

If I get a bfp I think I'll just cry coz really worried with my age ect it's not going to work 😪

How old are you ? How long you been trying? X

Redheadx · 16/10/2023 09:17

I’m 31 we were only trying 4 months! I know it’s not long but I think we wanted it so badly it was making it difficult

31 is still very young! It is hard when you really want a baby but can become so disappointing each month when it doesn't happen. Our first baby was ivf in the end it took us ages to conceive (18 months) I'm hoping on a miracle for a second baby. I have more faith it will work now we had that chemical pregnancy after 4/5 months of trying.
Remember it can take up to a full year to conceive and that's completely normal xx

TheBirdintheCave · 16/10/2023 09:48

I think it largely depends on your fertility. We've found that for us dtd every day (plus a fertility cup) is what works as I have PCOS and pinning down ovulation day can be tricky.

Bex4567 · 16/10/2023 11:03

I'm 37 and going into my 3rd month of trying now...I have a 16 year old and 12 year old also ...I no its only month 3 and that's very early but still hard seeing the Negative test qhen u want something so bad

Honestly after 2 years of ttc we just did it for the few days before ovulation and on day of ovulation . It became a chore neither of us looked forward too

Bex4567 · 16/10/2023 11:38

And did u get pregnant in the end

I've also been told every other day is best- that worked for us this time around. Try the Clearblue advanced ovulation tests too, they are expensive but I found the flashing/static smiley faces helpful in knowing when to do the deed! Best of luck, hope you get your BFP soon
