Body gearing up to ovulate and failing

Hello, I read regularly on here about people saying sometimes your body gears up to ovulate, you get LH rises but then it fails and your body will try again a few days/weeks later.

Does anyone know anything about this? Why does it happen? Does it suggest something is wrong with you?

Never heard of this, and I don't know how you'd know it's failed? I never get much showing on the LH tests, but I have got pregnant so I wouldn't trust them entirely.

Yep I get an LH peak as you'd expect but then my progesterone tests on day 21 show I'm probably not ovulating. No idea why - I'm booked in to see a consultant next month to try and understand more! I've got pregnant twice but it's taken me a long time both times (sadly both ended in miscarriage) so I don't want to go through that again if it's something I can fix!

Thanks @moosey89 I also got pregnant once and it ended in a chemical - loss at 5 weeks. I would be interested to hear what your consultant thinks!

@User657891 yeah I do - 4ish days. How about you? I've been so confused with it all to be honest, I just feel like I don't understand my body at all! Can't wait to see the consultant and hopefully get some answers.

@moosey89 Yes same here - each month, usually around the same date for around 4 days. When do you see your consultant?

@User657891 yeah my cycles are super consistent - just makes no sense! Consultation is booked for 16 November as my partner needs to have a semen analysis too before they will see us, and he's got one booked on the NHS for 7 Nov and I didn't want to pay twice 😅 I've got an antral follicle scan on Monday, so will be interesting to see what the result of that is too.

@User657891 good thanks! My right ovary was obscured by some bowel which is annoying but left side had 5 follicles and one dominant so looks like my follicle count is about average which is a relief! They also took another AMH blood sample so will be interesting to see what that says. Next test is another progesterone day 21 blood test next week ☺️
