Should I worry - lines on early Boots test getting lighter (with photos)

Hi everyone,

TTC baby 2 and thought we’d missed this month as had both been unwell so didn’t DTD when I thought I was ovulating but got a positive test yesterday.

However, the lines seem to be getting lighter and I’m worried it could be a chemical pregnancy?

1st one was yesterday afternoon, 2nd in the evening, 3rd this morning and 4th and the clear blue just now.

I’ve also had a little very light spotting which I am hoping is implantation bleeding. It’s brown (sorry if TMI) and not like the start of my period normally.

Key dates:
Last period: 10.09
DTD: 30.09 and 01.10
Positive test: 10.10
Period due: 10.10 - 14.10

As I didn’t think I would be pregnant I also drank around 5-6 glass of Prosecco on Saturday afternoon into the evening so feel terrible about that and extra worried.

Thank you for any help!

I hope it all works out for you and I really hope it’s not a chemical pregnancy. But remember if it is, this won’t affect your chances of conceiving a healthy pregnancy next time x

Hi @MrsKT123
The lines look ok to me hun, the brown discharge sounds like old blood. Hope everything is ok today x

MrsKT123 · 12/10/2023 09:41

Thank you so much @LW678 and @Summer2424 :)

Thankfully there has been no more spotting today and my boobs have become fuller and feel sore, which they only ever do the week before my period and not as much as this, so feeling a little more hopeful today. Xx

They look fine to me, maybe take another test with fmu tomorrow. I wouldn't worry about a few glasses of prosecco, the baby doesn't share blood with the mother for the first couple of weeks until the placenta forms it's best now you know to hold off from here on out (as I'm sure you would anyway) xx

I wouldn't worry about the lines being darker/lighter. Maybe your pee was just more diluted. Try to relax and take right supplements and rage it day by day. Smile

Those lines don't look different to me. I wouldn't worry about the drinking, it's less of a concern until placenta kicks in.

Thank you so much everyone!

I took a clear blue weeks indicator one today and was happy to see it says 2-3 weeks (I would be 2 weeks tomorrow since conception).

My boobs are also even more swollen and sore and no more spotting since the first post so keeping my fingers crossed! Xxx

Stop testing man. It's just a waste of money.

Congrats.

Summer2424 · 13/10/2023 20:39

@MrsKT123
Congratulations hun!! Xx

These tests were awful for me, they really made me anxious because of the lines but I couldn't get a hold of a FRER.

MrsKT123 · 13/10/2023 21:18

@gamerchick I will stop testing now - those are the same tests from my first photo just the new clear blue weeks one as those Boots ones definitely had me worried! I kept all the tests from my first baby (3 tests) but don't think I'll keep all of these ha!

@itsmschanandlerbong they definitely made me anxious as never had such faint lines on a test (I had used FRER for my first baby but can't seem to find them either, I think there's been some issues with the accuracy of them).
