Has anyone else experienced or heard of someone who has been this late with trigger shot? And what was the outcome? I took it 1 hr 15 mins late!

Hey , there's a forum dedicated to ivf. Some of the ladies over there might be able to help.

IVFfirsttimer91 · 10/10/2023 23:49

@Lndm contact your clinic first thing, they might say it’s fine or they might want to move your appointment back by an hour to accommodate the time difference. But it’s best to have them make that call.

If it helps at all, I took my trigger for EC on time, but then was over an hour late to my appointment due to train strikes and bad traffic, it all went ahead fine :)

Your clinic should have an out of hours number you can call and ask them tonight. Sending baby dust ✨

@MoonlightDreamer@IVFfirsttimer91@mrsmacmc wow first thanks so much and amazing that people were willing to respond to me immediately! so appreciated. what a community! i rang the clinic the following morning and was told to come in still for the booked time slot and they would have to see if they could squeeze me in anywhere a bit later in the morning. there's some publication that say collection can be somewhere from 34 hours after trigger. but there are more studies that say the evidence shows it should not be less than 35 and up to 38 hours, and that 36 is the optimum. most clinics go for 36 and mine was 35 hours (maybe because mine was the natural modified protocol). so me being too early for egg collection (i.e. only 33 hours, 45 mins after trigger) was not ideal at all. but there is wriggle room if you or your consultant are stuck in traffic and the collection procedure is delayed a bit. in the end the consultant didnt want me in at the scheduled time because 33 hours, 45 mins risked the eggs not being ready. due to other collections also waiting, the best they could do was push me back by about 45-50 minutes (so 34 hours, 30-35 minutes after trigger). i was very grateful for anything! the consultant was rushed though and i dont think he spent the time getting all the eggs that could have been collected (he didn't spend time measuring, just went off the scan 3 days prior and said he would just take the eggs that were measured to be the right size on that day). it's the best i could get, but my fault in the end. all the detail is for anyone ever reading this that might be in the same position!

@Lndm thats so great that they managed to push it back a bit!! How many did you have collected in the end?? It’s super exciting and honestly I found the egg collection the most difficult part of the whole process in terms of hormones/appointment frequency and generally feeling ick (until the 1st trimester when morning sickness slapped me in the face from 6-7 weeks anyway). Are you hoping for a fresh or frozen transfer?

@Lndm yes it’s the infertility board :)

Lndm · 12/10/2023 18:38

@IVFfirsttimer91 They only got 3! I am 44 and have low reserves, plus I have very light, short time period stims, so they are trying to just a small number of quality rather than quantity. However, I am on round 4! The most I've got in a round was 6, 5 got to day 5, only 1 pgta'd but it came back not good quality. In my case will always be frozen as I will always get the pgta. How come you ask fresh vs frozen? Is it better to get one over the other? I hope you overcome the morning sickness quickly! Mine lasted up to nearly week 20 with my first child (didnt need ivf then, so i dont mind I had to suffer with MS for so long!)

You only need the 1 for it to work 🤞🤞🤞 one of our friends just had the one egg collected and has just had a little boy! Will keep everything crossed for you!

I don’t think it’s better to have one over the other, my clinic said success rates are similar for both. Both of my transfers have been frozen; but that’s because I got OHSS the first time around 😩. I only ask because I was gutted when I couldn’t have the transfer straight away 😂 I’m so impatient.

Lndm · 12/10/2023 18:46

@IVFfirsttimer91 you will put your patience in to practise when your little one arrives. ;) congratulations!! i love hearing of women getting success especially after going through ivf! good for you! your positivity is very true too. just takes 1! x

Thank you 💖 she is going to be our first! And we are very very excited to meet her in March.

I really wish you all the success with this round! Will this be your first child too?

IVFfirsttimer91 · 12/10/2023 18:50

Im enjoying the pregnancy a lot more now that the first scary 12 weeks are over. I think with IVF you’re so much more inclined to think about things going wrong as there is just so much at stake that people who concierge easily don’t have to think about. I’ll be fully relaxed after our 20wk abnormalities scan if all comes back ok.
