Feeling stupid/annoyed at myself for getting my hopes up... after almost a year TTC I tested yesterday morning (had been feeling a bit 'different') and got what I thought was a faint positive... tests from yesterday afternoon and today are both very much BFN (and I think I have cramping, no AF as yet).

Would others have seen this line and got excited? My DH sort of glanced at it and said he thought it was a bit faint to mean anything.

That is positive, maybe test again with fmu tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you x

IlonaRN · 02/10/2023 17:02

Did the line come up in the time window?
It looks positive to me too.

Hayzjaxes · 02/10/2023 17:03

That looks positive to me. Good luck

decafisnotthesame · 02/10/2023 17:07

Thanks for the replies. I am glad others would have thought it was positive as I really feel stupid for letting myself get excited.

The photo was taken at 2 minutes with FMU at 14dpo using the Boots early test. Boots early test again in the afternoon was negative (well I thought I could see a very very faint line but DH said I was imagining it) and Clearblue early test today at 15dpo is absolutely a BFN.

Its my first month on letrozole so I guess all the weird symptoms might just be due to that.

That test is definitely positive.

I suspect the cramps are implantation related and that the "negative" tests today are due the hormones in your urine being more diluted than yesterday (natural fluctuation due to de/hydration). I'd try another test tomorrow!

The other option might be chemical pregnancy... but it's far too soon to come to that conclusion, it's likelier to be a positive outcome!

I've just seen your update. I thought it was a Boots test! They've been reliable every time I've used them. Clear Blue don't have such a good track record for early testing. I'd give it a day (or two if you can bear to)!

decafisnotthesame · 02/10/2023 17:10

@ChocChipPancake It was 14dpo - from what I have read I think it should be much darker by then... I was thinking perhaps chemical pregnancy. Or a dodgy test strip.

I'm reassured I am not going mad though and others do see a line!

Could also be late implantation... especially if you currently have cramps but no bleeding. I was in exactly your situation (faint, late positive, cramps) and it resulted in my oldest child!

curliegirlie · 02/10/2023 17:20

How sensitive was the CB test? Pink tests tend to be clearer, particularly when testing early. Fingers crossed for you.

elliesmummy19 · 02/10/2023 17:23

I’m unusual (but could have miscalculated I guess) and didn’t get a whiff of a line until I was 16dpo. Had been testing for days before then and nothing. My test on 16dpo looked exactly like this. I would have got my hopes up too. Definitely try testing again in a couple of days. Good luck!

decafisnotthesame · 02/10/2023 18:16

@curliegirlie the CB test was the 6 days early one so I would have thought at 15dpo it would pick something up.

@elliesmummy19 that's interesting to know. I'm reluctant to keep hoping after 2 negative tests. I think I'll stop testing now and wait for AF... I'm also tracking my temperature so will see what happens there over the next few days

I had positive tests interspersed with negatives for a while- are all the tests you used the same sensitivity? Internet cheapies are 10mlu, first response is 6mlu, a cheap one from home bargains might be 25mlU. I think clearblue is 25mlU.

decafisnotthesame · 02/10/2023 20:10

The clearblue one I have is 10mlU. I'm not sure about the Boots early one (the one in the photo) as I have now thrown away the packaging. But I did two Boots ones and one was the one in the pic and one negative (or a very much clutching at straws tilt your head a certain way and squint a little bit kind of line that my DH couldn't see at all!).

The only difference (and I can't believe I'm still trying to find ways to think it might be good news...you think I'd learn!) is that the one in the pic is FMU and the other two weren't. But at 15dpo I wouldn't have expected this to matter?

Weddingblues23 · 02/10/2023 20:55

If that one was fmu and the other two weren't then you have your answer. Just test again with fmu.

decafisnotthesame · 02/10/2023 21:23

I'm not convinced that's the reason and am going to stop testing as it's only making me more upset. I will report back with any updates as the week progresses...
