I’ve had a chemical pregnancy. Faint positive test at 11dpo, slightly stronger positive at 13dpo, followed by negatives from 15dpo onwards. I was due my period last Thursday, I am still waiting. Does anyone know how long it’ll take? So annoying that this has messed my cycles up. I read online that it can take 4-6 weeks to get my period, surely not?!

Hi @Lagirl20

so sorry for your loss.

in exactly the same boat as you give or take a few days. I’m 16-18dpo today (not sure on my exact ovulation dates). Had a faint positive last Tuesday and they’ve stayed faint up to today. Had bloods done today and they confirmed it as a chemical. So devastating. I haven’t even had spotting let alone a bleed. Hate how much of a limbo this feels :(. Hope you’re ok x

@Lagirl20 @rosied31 sorry for both your losses. I've also just had a chemical but I only tested on day of AF due. Then test again 18dpo and tests looked the same. 19dpo digital said 'not pregnant' and I started bleeding the day after - 5 days after AF was originally due. Just had my peak opk at CD15 (counting from first day of bleed) so hopefully not messed things up too much. Fingers crossed for you that yours starts soon! And good luck for rainbow baby soon 🌈💕🤞🏻

Hi @SnookyPook

So sorry for your loss. It's so hard. I cried so much yesterday after receiving the results, felt so bloody gaslit by all the expensive pregnancy tests I'd done over the last week, including a positive 1-2 weeks clearblue digital. I just knew something was wrong when my test was super light yesterday morning (18dpo). I started bleeding this morning so that's some closure at least. I don't know whether to treat this bleed as a period or not, the woman in the EPU said it's not a period as there was still HCG in my system yesterday but I feel like there's no harm in trying again this month in case I ovulate. Just so desperate to be pregnant again. Reassuring to know that you did ovulate the same cycle after your bleed - hope everything works out for you x

Anotheranxiousone · 26/09/2023 12:36

Not quite the same as I was slightly further on and had seen heartbeat but I miscarried at 6w3d this month. I ovulated 16 days after the bleeding started (I usually ovulate cd13 so was 3 days later) confirmed with OPKs and BBT, so hopefully you’ll have the same and your cycle won’t be too messed up!

rosied31 · 26/09/2023 12:43

@Anotheranxiousone I'm so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine how awful that must have been. Sending you lots of luck for your next try. It's so hard seeing all of my friends getting pregnant at the moment seemingly without a hitch - it's supposed to be an exciting time TTC and it just feels so anxiety inducing and stressful :(

Crazydogladie · 26/09/2023 12:50

So sorry to you all for your losses, it’s so
tough. I had a chemical last month, 5 days of positive tests before it turned negative. AF came 2 days late and ovulation was 6 days late.

SnookyPook · 26/09/2023 14:31

@rosied31 it's a sad time. I also had a MMC back in April so this one has sort of merged with that now in a way. Part of me is relieved I didn't have longer to build my hopes up again to have another MMC or something, and part of me is gutted that of course it's another miscarriage. Thankfully I also managed to have it confirmed by bloods so it's on my record (my GP practice were reluctant to add it without clinical proof which seemed a bit cold and unsympathetic but hey). Got in just in time as I'd been bleeding 24hrs when they did the bloods and my HCG level was 3!!

As for trying again, I have treated the bleeding pretty much as a period and we have gone straight back to TTC this cycle. Even after a later miscarriage the main reason they recommend waiting is for dating purposes and clarity around whether HCG pertains to the lost pregnancy or a new one. I would imagine your HCG will be down to zero within a few days after a CP so hopefully well clear by fertile week.

Good luck to everyone 💕

I’m so sorry to hear about your MMC. That must have been really traumatic. Sending you so much positivity and know that you are not alone in this journey. It can often feel so lonely and isolating but there are thousands of examples of people going on to have successful pregnancies after multiple losses. It’s so easy to focus on all the bad stories when we are feeling vulnerable. We will get our rainbow babies, we have to keep the hope alive x

@Crazydogladie I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending hugs and wishing you luck on your next try x

Sorry that you are going through this. Chemicals are complete mindfucks when you’re trying for a baby. Sending you and everyone else going through it positive thoughts.

Mine came back 2 weeks after. A friend of mine who has just had one, it took 10 days for her.

Oldandtrying23 · 26/09/2023 15:59

I had one and it was 8 days late, this time .

Thank you! I am still waiting for my period (one week late now), so frustrating. I had a blood test done at my GP today so let’s see. Hope you bleed soon. I’ve researched and we’re meant to be more fertile after a loss like this, and can start trying right away, so that’s positive at least!

Yes they’re so hard to understand and take, especially when they leave us in limbo waiting for next cycle. Thanks so much for sharing, I’m now a week late. Just a waiting game. Hope things worked out for you

Hi @Lagirl20 sorry for your loss! I’ve had a few chemicals, most of them I bled a few days after tests went negative but for my one this month I didn’t bleed, my body tried to ovulate again and then I got a mega heavy AF about 3 weeks after my last positive test. The early pregnancy unit said it can happen both ways either bleeding straight away or bleeding around next period due date

Lagirl20 · 27/09/2023 10:51

@LacedBouquet thank you, that’s so interesting to know. There’s so little info online about when to expect the next period

Never actually had a chemical but had a silent miscarriage at 14 weeks I did have a D&C as my body wouldn't expell it! I guess it thought it was still pregnant, I can't remember having a period after the d&C but I did conceive again straight after it so could of been 3 or 4 weeks after D&C .
