CD3 progesterone test results very low and irregular periods

Hi all, I had a repeat of blood tests on Monday which was CD3 for me (of a heavy period), the result was very low at 0.7 and the nurse has asked me to go back in 2 weeks to check for ovulation, but my periods are really irregular and I can have up to 60 day cycles. So the next blood test in 2 weeks still might not show anything, last month my apps confirmed ovulation on CD41.

How does testing work if you have irregular periods to be able to confirm if you have ovulated?

I am being told over and over again that my bloods are normal for my age (42) and there is no reason for us not getting pregnant but 3 years later with not even a faint line tells me different. Now I'm wondering if it is the low progesterone that is maybe the cause of it. Is there anything I can take to improve it?

Thanks x

Hi, I had my testosterone tested a couple weeks ago and they said it was 26- which apparently doesnt confirm ovulation.
I am on the waiting list for a scan etc on the nhs. But! I have just decided to get a private test £225, as the nhs waiting list may be a year for all I know.
I doubt we will have ivf but I would like to get on clomid ASAP. Xx

If you can afford it go to a private clinic the scans. X

Khanny · 21/09/2023 16:02

Hi thank you. I have had scans and a HSG which I am having repeated next Thursday as the first time round I still had some blood in my uterus so it wasn't clear enough, but all scans and tests have shown no issues, and my husbands semen analysis was fine too. The fertility gynae at the hospital has discharged us as there is no reason, but I have never had my progesterone tested until this week.

Good luck to you, I am going to ask about clomid or letrozole to give me every fighting chance as we don't have much money so IVF is out of the question xx

I see, thank you for telling me. I did not realise things would be this hard. We kept putting off the baby making as we were saving for a deposit for a house. Well we gave up on that but I feel maybe I have left it to late.
I do have a 15 year old but I’ve always wanted another child.
I really do hope to get on Clomid, sooner the better. 🙂 X

@40andtrying1 do you track your bbt? I've got my cd24 blood tests soon (had cd3 already) and wondered if you do bbt to see any temp increase?

40andtrying1 · 22/09/2023 08:44

I don’t track bbt, it sounds very complicated. I am in the process of gathering all my medical information to pass on to the private clinic, they said once they have this they will see me within a week. I feel relieved I won’t have to wait for my nhs appointment, as they may have taken months.💓

40andtrying1 · 22/09/2023 08:47

Do you have a child already? it’s a shame we cannot get a little help with financing ivf. My husband said he doesn’t want to go down that route, could end up broke.
He has two children- 18 years old and one nearly 20.
I yearn for another, I need a little baby on my arms. 💓

Khanny · 22/09/2023 09:01

Hi @Angelselevenx yes I have temped but I took a break from it during the summer as it was driving me bonkers. My temps seemed so erratic but I can wake quite a bit in the night and can be a mouth breather. So last month I decided to vaginal temp and it seemed to be much more consistent and I did get a confirmed ovulation on CD41 on 3 apps that I use. I have also this month just finished a 6 day period for the first time in months and I put it down to reflexology - my periods have been lasting anything from 2 weeks to a month. Going to start temping again from tomorrow morning xx

@Khanny no way that's amazing, funny you say that I actually had my first reflexology session yesterday. I have ovulation confirmed each month via bbt but just waiting for doctors prg tests to confirm for this month

Khanny · 22/09/2023 09:09

@40andtrying1 I have 2 children who are 21 & 19 from my first marriage. My husband now has no children of his own. I have wanted another since I can remember, I always wanted more and I too pine to experience pregnancy again, to feel the newborn in my arms and nurture them x

If it doesnt happen for me I will have to wait until I am a grandmother. But I have my heart set on becoming a mother again. To make matters worse my 15 year old daughter is staying with her father in London. I have not seen her for two months. I am very tactile so I miss hugging her (when she lets me!).
when I met my husband 7 years ago I said I wanted another child, we should not of waiting so long.
i thought I would get pregnant quickly, like I did with my daughter. I was wrong. 🙁

Khanny · 22/09/2023 09:15

@Angelselevenx I absolutely love my reflexology sessions, I have had about 6 sessions so far and I really feel like it has helped balancing things out. Just need my next blood test to be at the right time to show a progesterone increase and confirm ovulation...fingers crossed.

The first time I went to reflexology I had missed a period (anovulatory) and the morning after my session I started spotting so I honestly believe it gets blood flowing to all the right places. Good luck with it xx

Do your adult children know you are trying for another? X

Khanny · 22/09/2023 09:19

@40andtrying1 I totally understand how you feel, my boys have lived with their dad for the last 5 years and now they are grown up, working, girlfriends etc they're busy. I also never ever thought I would be in a position where it is not happening easily, if I had have known I would have had my coil removed much much earlier x

How long have you been trying?

it would be lovely to see the reaction on our children’s faces when telling them they are going to have a little sister or brother.
I hope this is our month, I really do. ✨

Khanny · 22/09/2023 09:25

@40andtrying1 I don't think so, its not something we openly chat about to be honest but they have their own lives now x

@40andtrying1 over 3 years now sadly with not even a hint of a faint line.

I'm not giving up though.

The fertility gynae at the hospital was really lovely and she basically told me to stop tracking opks and bbt as they are not going to get me pregnant, she said just dtd as much as possible every 2-3 days and stop trying every supplement that I read a success story on (I have bought so many), she advised me to stick to folic acid, 1000mg vitamin d and coq-10 x

40andtrying1 · 22/09/2023 09:58

Did they mention Clomid? Xx

40andtrying1 · 22/09/2023 10:06

I just bought the coq-10
om Amazon - thank you . Yes I take around 8 vitamin tablets a day! I have started eating sunflower seeds as I hear they are very good for you. I work nights so I cannot have sex each night or morning 🙁 …it is not possible. If I track with opk’s I can try and work around that time.

Khanny · 22/09/2023 10:17

@40andtrying1 nobody has mentioned clomid or letrozole to me but I am going to mention it myself and see what response I get!

I've been seeing that clove water can help so I have bought some cloves to soak and drink twice a day. I went for acupuncture a couple of months ago and the chinese herbalist recommended and gave me a concoction of cloves and other things to soak and drink but she charged £40 a week so I have bought cloves off amazon for £3.99! xx
