I have got viral fever and took 4 lemsip sachets and ibuprofen over last 2 days and today I got a faint positive pregnancy test result. I am worried sick now as I found out those are big no while pregnant. I am 12 dpo. Do you have any similar experience and what should I do now?

@Test123456879 Best bet is to contact your Doctor. Don't think too much into it though x

If you’re in the UK give 111 a call. Lemsip is just paracetamol isn’t it? I thought that was ok in pregnancy? It’s 20 years since I was last pregnant so the advice may have changed but give them a call to put your mind at rest.

Is there something else in lemsip that would make it unsafe? I thought paracetamol was okay for pregnancy but I might be wrong.

Lemsip has Phenylephrine Hydrochloride too. It has links to a slightly increased risk of minor cosmetic changes but doesn't seem to have any huge red flag risks.

I did the same thing but I was a few weeks into the pregnancy. It shouldn't be anything to worry about, you have taken such a little amount, warnings like that re the lemsips are more applicable when you are further into your pregnancy once the placenta is supplying your baby with nutrients from your body.

The baby in the early stages is feeding off its own yolk sac whilst the placenta is growing.

It won't know if you've ingested something. Once the placenta is up and functioning you'll very much be sharing nutrients.

But at this early stage you are fine having had a lemsip or even a glass of wine.

Most women who don't test wouldn't even know they were pregnant for a while.

Thanks everyone for your response. I hope it should be fine

This post has made me feel better too - I am 5 weeks pregnant and googled if it was ok to take lemsip. The lemsip website said yes, but I’ve been scared by everything I’ve read about decongestants! Can’t get hold of my doctors or midwife too.

Did all turn out ok for you and did you get any advice from your midwife?
