Morning after pill - negative at 20 days post deed.. advice please

Hi all,
I have a regular 28 day cycle. I had a condom split on day 8 of my cycle so took the morning after pill 12 hours post deed.
one week after the morning after pill I had a bleed for two days which was very crampy and needed a pad but only lasted two and a bit days (assume as not much lining to shed). This bleed was on day 14 of cycle.
I was due on Wednesday but didn’t come on so took a pregnancy test which was negative (this was 3 weeks after sex and no other sex since the incident) would this negative be trustworthy? Is 20 days post sexual intercourse a decent time? No pregnancy symptoms or sore boobs etc.

I'm no expert on this but the MAP works by delaying ovulation. If you took it on day 8 this would probably have been before ovulation. Maybe after a week your body assumed it wasn't going to ovulate this month and you had a 14 day cycle, setting off the bleed. I'd count your 2 day bleed as a period, resetting your cycle. So your period would be due 28 days from the bleeding.

If you haven't had sex for 20 days, have bled since, and hadn't ovulated before sex and the pill worked as it should, it seems unlikely you are pregnant.

Thank you. It would be super unlucky for me. Plus I am 40 so not exactly in my peak fertility etc. I know it delayed ovulation so was surprised by the bleed but makes total sense.

I’ve taken MAP a couple of times and it’s always delayed my period by 2 weeks. Unfortunate side effect!

Thanks for that hun. I just did another test which would be 23 days post sex and negative.
