Over 40s ttc after a missed miscarrige

Supertrooper101 · 14/09/2023 15:16

Hi, i had my 12wk scan beginning of april 23 and the babys heart had stopped at 8wk and 3 days...i opted for a d&c ( i have no idea why, i wish i had gone for the more natrual approach with medication now) been trying ttc since april and just isnt happening. Periods have been irregular too in terms of how many days i bleed. This wasnt the case before the d&c. Just seeing if anyone else is struggling to conceive since a mmc... all i read is how fertile you are after, not my case lol

Sorry for your loss, I'm 38 and also had a missed miscarriage in may.

Are you taking any vitamins or anything?

My cycles and ovulation was awful after mine, until I started adding Vit B6 and Vit D to my folic acid, I'm now 7 weeks hopefully fingers crossed, all was OK at my 6 week scan and I have another at 8 weeks. But I think the B6 definitely helped me regulate and conceive

Supertrooper101 · 14/09/2023 21:57

Yeah i take 100mg b6 , prenatal, and some other extra supplements. How much b6 was you taking x

I'm now 39 and had a MMC last Dec. My MMC was managed naturally and periods returned to normal, but recently have been having bleeding between cycles (which I suspect is a polyp) that I've never had before. It's frustrating. I've also been seed cycling which can (apparently) help regulate periods. Mine are pretty regular whatever, the only change I've noticed is less period pain. I'm not totally convinced it does a lot, but who knows.

I had early miscarriage this month

Was already on folic acid - vit d - zinc etc

Now added b6 & coq10

Sorry for your loss! I’m on the same boat as you! Mmc at 11 weeks in April, d&c after and trying since May and not pregnant yet. The stories that you are most fertile after a mc have been haunting me! Taking all the vitamins available in the store!
hoping that something still happens before end of this year! All the best to you as well..

Best of luck

Have ya had feretin - b12 and vit D checked?

Low in any of those 3 can effect things ^

Also - get your progesterone checked 2 - 3 days after ovulation to check it

U taking b6 ?

Hello, just replying here to follow. I'm 39, currently waiting on a miscarriage to pass. Been lightly bleeding and cramping for 4 days, had the loss confirmed at EPU at what would have been almost 9 weeks. I'm guessing it's best to wait and let it pass on its own if we want to try again this year? I gave another appt next week to look again and discuss next steps.

Supertrooper101 · 15/09/2023 18:43

Am not sure its sunk in yet, am good at blocking things out lol just cant seem to wrap my head round how my body would continue to act like it was pregnant. The scan was a shock. I was on a different forum and going by that, it dosent seem to make a difference whether it was a d&c or medical managment the periods etc after. Seems the longer the the miscarrige went unoticed is whats effecting the periods after. I never used to get pms but now afew days afyer ovulation am getting what mimics implantation symptons, then few days after am fine, then few days after that my period. So totally convinced myself implantation was failing because of damage from the d&c 🤷‍♀️... so wanting to book to saline scan to see lol dr wont do one, looked at me like i was mad lol

@Iammagic i thought it would happen by now too.. spoke to gp and its like, but you got pregnant so that means you can. Just keep trying and relax.....erm, ok....lol am the same with supplements, come on these forums then see sumat else ppl are taking and like hurrrmmmm, lets google that lol. Already take pre natal, vit b6, vit d ,e & c folic acid omega 3 ubinquiol, erm, nuts and seeds, oh and have a vitex every morning. I went on that for mood swings though tbf.

Hi all,
Will turn 40 in a few months and had an early miscarriage 2 weeks ago.
We are TTC #2.
It's a tough journey at times isn't it x

Supertrooper101 · 15/09/2023 21:45

@JC084 defo took getting pregnant for granted thats for sure lol

Are we sure we are not the same person?! Lol
exactly what my gp, fertility specialist keep telling me. And I know cousins who’ve gotten preggy with their first and their pregnancies seem to be going just fine! Trying not to be bitter but its getting impossible!
@worldwidetravel2017 thanks, taking of all that and more! Get my bloods done everyday 2 weeks lol
I think I’ll stay mad, my mood swings and tempers around pms has gotten crazy bad, until I see those 2 pink lines again! I’m scared for my mental well being

Supertrooper101 · 16/09/2023 09:59

@Iammagic what are they doing the bloods for ? Ive booked 2 appointments with 2 different drs so going to see what i can get out of them 🤣 i have already had fsh done but only mid cycle. Had a scan also which showed uterus fine. But that wouldnt show minor scarring is what google says lol. My moods up n down like you and i rekon if i did just 'chill' it would happen.but then my brain goes back to loseing it, what i did wrong, then to the 3mths after, your super fertile, why wasnt i... then my age then am back to f it !! Haha round n round. Started smoking again thursday, so yeah, thats not going to help lol

Similar story i’m 38 i had a MMC in April had failed medical management and need a d&c , we fell pregnant easily with DD and the MMC but nothing has happened since , periods have been all over the place until recently , due AF in the next 2 days no symptoms of pregnancy again . The whole your more fertile after MC doesn’t seem true in our case either .

Supertrooper101 · 16/09/2023 10:14

@JJM13 am due in a couple of days too lol i fell easy with the two i have but there 9&15 so thought the 3rd would take a long time, but nope, first cycle and wasnt even properly trying. No opk timing or prenatal... so again makes me wonder if it is a stress thing delaying it. My periods have been random apart from august....august were had the full mth off trying. Came on, ovulate (i have the hip pain) then came on again. No aches or pains inbetween..So either his sperms now attacking me haha or i knew there was no chance of pregnancy that month so didnt even think about it.

Supertrooper101 · 16/09/2023 10:16

If a positive story helps, I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks at 41yo whilst trying for DC2. It took about six months for my periods to settle back to their usual pattern, but they did, and I conceived quickly shortly afterwards. DS is now 9 weeks old, and I was 42 when he was born. I also tortured myself with this whole 'you're at your most fertile immediately after a miscarriage' - it's meaningless bollocks (as to be fair is my own story) - but I just wanted to let you know that sometimes there are happy endings, and I really hope there's one for you too xx

Supertrooper101 · 16/09/2023 11:49

@sexnotgenders lol think we need some like yours ! Did you have any bloods or scans to help see whats what fertility wise? or did you just keep trying? Maybe for some the body and mind just takes longer to re adjust. And those who conceive quickly maybe didnt stress 🤔. I like your story though x are you going to try for number 3 haha

Does anyone have any thoughts on impryl? Im confused with how little ingrediants it has in it yet it is meant to be recommended by fertility specilists 🤷‍♀️

Hi ladies 👋🏻I thought I would join this as I’d seen it had been created on another thread I was on. How are you all doing?

I had confirmation today that my miscarriage is now complete, I was actually due to go in for a Mva tomorrow but didn’t make it that far.
This is my 3rd following a chemical in December and mmc in March.

I’ve been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic but told that it can take 12 weeks and they are going to do genetic testing on the pregnancy but I know that can take some time also.
