Questions for people who are taking vitamin b6

Hey everyone,

For those of you who are taking vitamin b6 to help you try to conceive I wanted to ask the following:

  1. How much are you taking?
  2. What day of your cycle do you start taking it?
  3. Do you take it alongside and other vitamins? (Apart from folic acid as that’s a given)

I ask because I used it with my cycle that I fell pregnant (ended in a MMC) however I’m convinced the b6 helped me conceive as it made me ovulate a couple of days earlier which will have helped my luteal phase which is on the shorter side.

However it was the only month I took it so I’m not sure if it was a coincidence or not… So I wanted to know everyone else’s experience of using it! I used 100mg starting from the day my AF finished and I took it with folic acid and vitamin D. I had a 4 day break from taking it 2 days after ovulation as I went on holiday but started it back up again as soon as I got home and got a bfp at 9dpo!

Trying to decide whether or not to take it this cycle x

Hi @Haylsttc sorry for your loss, I hope this is a successful cycle for you!

I take b6 every day (100mg) have taken it for about 8 years, mostly to help my crazy hormones I get just before my period 😁, and I have taken lots of other vitamins with it with no issues.

I have just had my second miscarriage (but def had nothing to do with the b6 as I have 2 healthy dc that I took b6 with through both pregnancys too as it helps with morning sickness) x

exact same here
take it to help my awful day 16 moods of doom and it also helped lengthen my luteal phase a few years back to conceive dd2

I had an MMC in may, started taking B6 in July and now 6+3, still take it now and probably will for years to come. 100mg per day plus Vit D and folic acid

@Ladyinpink1 thank you and I’m so sorry for your two losses too!

Thanks for sharing your experience with b6, yeah I’ve read it can do no harm, if anything it helps but was starting to second guess myself so thanks for the reassurance!

@Namechangeforthisone2023 wish someone had told me about it sooner for the moods! Ah that’s great about it lengthening your luteal phase for dd2, I’m sure it did that for me the month I conceived so going to use it again this cycle 😊 thanks for sharing!

@Kellyaust so sorry to hear about your MMC in may, mine was in June so we have a very similar story!

Congratulations on your pregnancy so happy for you after knowing and feeling what you have been through. That’s the exact same vitamins I was taking when I conceived the first time so i’m going to try them again this cycle and hope for the best!

@Haylsttc yes well it's started beginning of may and didn't end until 6th june so had an awful time and after that my body, hormones and cycle were so messed up n I was like a crazy woman... The B6 seemed to completely change me! Then all of a sudden I had a really strong ovulation and got my bfp 9 days later. Fingers crossed for some rainbows 🤞

Haylsttc · 11/09/2023 21:58

@Kellyaust oh that sounds awful, i’m so sorry you went through that!

That’s amazing about the b6! It seems to definitely help with fertility by the sounds of things, thank you I hope so 🌈🤞
