Clomid & Conception at 40+ after Fibroid removal

Turning 40 soon! TLDR: Do you have any tips on making the most of Clomid?

Currently taking NAC, coq10, folic acid 5mg (larger dose), choline and vitamin d3. All from vitamin good sources.

Background - I had 3 MC in past five years whilst not actively TTC. Discovered a big fibroid after last one in 2019 at the end of my postgrad study, and due to pandemic had to wait to a long time for diagnosis and removal in May 2022 (it was almost 1kg when removed!).

Have been actively TTC since December 2022 but think I must be all dried up :)

I am blessed with 2 step kids who I have been lucky to have raised with their birth mum and dad since they were 3 and 6. I love them unconditionally and get on great with, but part of me still feels like I want to have a child. I know I’m in a super lucky position and I will be grateful either way, whatever happens.

In February I referred myself to local NHS for IVF but there is a huge backlog in my area. In this area we get one ‘free’ shot at IVF over 40. I’m also currently BMI 33 so local doctor thinks I might get rejected as it’s supposed to be under 30, but anyway I’m still waiting.

For context I have always been bigger - UK size 14-18 and 178cm - always active. I go climbing 3 times a week and cycle every day. My granny was the same build! Rest assured I am still trying to lose weight if I can and always eat fresh raw/cook myself etc. Main thing I am doing is trying to reduce portion size.

In June my local doctor got me a quick ultrasound scan and uterus and ovaries look fine and good size, no sign of PCOS and uterus healed well after fibroid removal. I have one v small calcified fibroid 1cm x 2cm but it’s not in a bad place or growing. So all looks ok internally.

My local doc is pretty helpful and has given me 3 months Clomid prescription to try as I am still waiting to see specialist. Regardless what folks think about BMI, my doc and I think it’s not always useful way to measure people. So hence she keeps going the extra mile for me and if anyone has any other suggestions I could ask her for, please let me know.

To cut a long story short, does anyone have any good tips on how to make the most of clomid? Any success stories with bodies similar to mine?

Also I use Flo and Femometer, to monitor cycle, they both have 4-5 day difference in their predictions for ovulation day! 😂
My sister said the best way is to feel inside if your cervix is high or low but I find this so difficult as I have a long torso and not sure what I am feeling, ha!

Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance to anyone with useful / constructive / helpful suggestions or experiences ❤️

Good luck OP. I had my second baby at 42 and I think taking pregnacare everyday helped.
