Just found out I'm pregnant, but dates don't add up

I'm 3 days late for my period, which I didn't think anything of as last month my period was 6 days late when they're usually like clockwork.

I've taken a frer and clear blue digi, the digi says 2-3 but I don't see how that's possible when the frer line isn't super dark.

We weren't trying but not preventing which has been happening over a year, I have pcos so I put it down to that. This last month we've only dtd twice and pulled out so I'm in shock tbh.

My cycles are usually 29 days but last month was 34 days. Would the gp do anything if I rang tomorrow?

I think both tests indicate you conceived in the middle of your last cycle, and you've been having unprotected sex. It all adds up imho!

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant it doesn't add up as in surely the test wouldn't show 2-3 already when I must be just pregnant, I would've expected it to say 1-2. And with my last cycle being 34 days instead of my usual 29, it's just making me think I can't be this far gone

the date is conted from last period

RosiePosiePuddin · 04/09/2023 20:13

You just won't know till your 12 week dating scan.

You could. Pay to have a private one in a few weeks.

Digital tests go from the date of ovulation (roughly).
You usually have a period 2 weeks after ovulation, & you are 3 days late, so 2.5 weeks is correct.

Medically speaking you are more like 4-5 weeks though (as that is dated from the first day of your last period).

This. The digital tests show estimated time from ovulation, hospitals count from date of last scan.

When the digital tests came out I was confused as had always worked by last period.

Dont overthink, you’re pregnant! Congrats

HappyAsASandboy · 04/09/2023 20:18

Also throw in the fact that the estimation of weeks pregnant aren't very accurate, and darkness of line doesn't indicate anything, and you're grand!

Definitely pregnant though Grin Congratulations!

Thank you, I understand now 😊

I had this. Found out I was pregnant 14/7 and it said 2-3 weeks which meant I got pregnant end of June and I didn't think I could've but it counts an extra week. This was in 2012 so I can't quite remember but I didn't get it either and I'd been trying for about five years (endometriosis) so I think when in a situation like yours where it's such a welcome surprise you don't quite understand it. Congratulations

Exactly this! We weren't trying but not preventing just to take the pressure off as I was getting so depressed with bfn after bfn, so now I'm just in total shock and I feel like it's false positives as we weren't properly trying, and the clear blue digital makes it look like I conceived during my last period
