Does anyone ovulate straight after their period? Can anyone share the timeline - from Period to ovulation, implantation, and positive pregnancy test for a case like this please?

Do you know you definitely do ovulate straight after? Asking because when I was using OPK strips I'd always get a strong line 5-8 days after my period but I wasn't actually ovulating then. They'd dip then I'd get a positive around day 20. Obviously disregard if you know medically you do ovulate then but just thought I'd share.

I don't usually. But, something very unusual happened this month. I had really bad ovary pain that happened about 4 days or so after my period ended (although it had faded out a little early this month so it's all estimation). Then about 3 days later pain again, and I went upstairs and wiped and there was a little brown blood - tiny, and after that a few wipes of pink and all the gooey see through stuff. Just like my previous pregnancies - only on this insanely weird timeline. Ever since I've had all the sorts of symptoms I would get around a week prior to a positive pregnancy test - intermittently. But it doesn't make sense. EPT has been negative, but since it isn't anywhere near my expected period, it shouldn't be right? It's weird, and I read online women can ovulate as early as day 6 of their cycle - and there are journals, actually research to back it up. Otherwise, this is all very unusual for me, and something is wrong. I'm worrying.

I'm quite old now! But I used to ovulate on day 10 (so 3 or 4 days after my period ended).

Greycheck · 02/09/2023 17:22

I have 26 day cycles and ovulate early. With my youngest I got a positive pregnancy test on CD19. I wasn't tracking ovulation but presume that must have been somewhere between CD5-9.

LOKIk23 · 02/09/2023 17:23

rowantree1997 Thank you so so much! So good to hear from someone who experienced this. So do you mind me asking if you had an implantation bleed earlier? positive pregnancy test earlier? etc

Greycheck Thank you so much, what is 'CD'? Sorry I don't know these online abbreviations.

rowantree1997 · 02/09/2023 17:25

I didn't take early pregnancy tests - just around day 28.

Greycheck · 02/09/2023 17:26

Sorry Cycle Day so Day 1 being the first day of your period, I must have ovulated somewhere between five and nine days after the first day of my period. I have light short periods so it's usually all over by day 3.

Keep testing but if your period comes as usual this month then it would be worth a check with the doctor as unusual for you bleeding between periods.

LOKIk23 · 02/09/2023 17:27

Ahh, I see. I read online sperm can survive up to 7 days. So lets say ovulation is on the 6th-10th day of the cycle, and the big romance was on the 5th day - does this all sound feasible to ladies like yourselves that have short cycles?

OP posts:
LOKIk23 · 02/09/2023 17:29

Thank you so much Greycheck - so your period ends like after 3 days, and just two days later it is possible that you ovulated. Wow - so I'm not completely mental. I wonder - were both your cycles always like this or did they change? Because, for me, until recently I was very average and regular, and recently there have just been a few little changes, with this month (seemingly) a real shift.

OP posts:
Greycheck · 02/09/2023 17:30

I think sperm is more like 5 days and the egg is only good for 12-24 hours. If you ovulated before day 10 there could still be sperm lurking.

Greycheck · 02/09/2023 17:32

Funnily enough this was with my third when I was 28. My cycles have always been the same but my first two were conceived unplanned at 18 and 20 so no idea when I ovulated. Same partner and cycle though with my third so possibly always been early ovulation.

Goldencup · 02/09/2023 17:38

I have short cycles I conceived after DYD on day 5 (DC1, DS) and day 9 (DC2, DD ). I think I ovulate around day 9/10. Cycle lasts 24 days.

AndrewGarfieldsLaptop · 02/09/2023 17:39

I do; I ovulate like 7 days later?

LOKIk23 · 02/09/2023 17:44

Thank you all fo your replies <3- it is so good to hear this. So, one question I have is, have any of you gotten pregnant after doing it during your period? Mine was obviously at the end of it, but I wonder if any of you definitely did.

LOKIk23 · 02/09/2023 17:45

Also I love all of your usernames - I should have been more creative lol.

OP posts:
Redlarge · 02/09/2023 17:46

I ovulate around day 10

LOKIk23 · 02/09/2023 17:48

Goldencup, did you get an earlier implant bleed then? I know most get them at the date of the missed period, but implantation can happen in the space of a week. Wondering if the dates all these things happen are different?

OP posts:
LOKIk23 · 02/09/2023 17:50

Redlarge, also wondering the same about you? Sorry this topic is so gross. I'm just kind of working out the time spans for everything. Much rather it be this than being unwell... even though the old husband will probably faint as you don't expect it to happen like this. We thought we were in the 'safe time' lol.

OP posts:
Goldencup · 02/09/2023 18:04

I didn't have an implant bleed with either. Did get ovulation pains on day 10 with Dd though.

LOKIk23 · 02/09/2023 19:20

Goldencup, by the way what's DYD? Just want to make sure I understand the timeline properly.

OP posts:
LOKIk23 · 02/09/2023 19:21

Red large, is the period length still 7 days, or finish early too?

OP posts:
Goldencup · 02/09/2023 19:28

Sorry typo DTD did the deed.

LOKIk23 · 02/09/2023 20:52

Hahaha, yes I wondered. On Google DYD is an acronym for Don't You Dare so I was confused.

I was testing using CB ovulation kit when TTC and my peak fertility was 2 days after my period ended. We conceived that month and I had a positive pregnancy test 6 days before my period was due. I would have had no idea I had ovulated that early without testing. No implantation bleeding but I had twinges in my ovaries for a few days.
