Hello, just wanted to start a thread to see if anyone else was in the same position as us or had some success stories of ttc after 12+cycles! We’ve been trying to conceive our first for 14 cycles (AF arrived today!!) and I’m starting to loose hope! We’ve had some tests done both privately and on the NHS and so far everything looks good. We’ve got a referral to the fertility clinic but that’s not until November and I’m not really sure what to expect when we go.

Hope you guys can join me on this crazy ttc journey! X

Nope still here and waiting!! However I have had Covid/flu over Christmas and coming out the end of it now. I ovulated whilst having this and we tried to dtd a couple of times when I got a positive ovulation test however I am not hopeful as I have been so ill with flu i don’t feel positive about bfp next I am due on in about 10 days how about you

Bex4567 · 02/01/2024 15:35

I'm onto cycle 6 this month and 37...going to not track anything and just try and relax and enjoy it this month..just ordered coq10 and they have arrived today so going to take them me and my partner to see if that helps..
It's so deflating I feel so responsible every month that goes past 🥲just want this so much...af is ending so will dtd as and when around fertile time this month

GemLou88 · 02/01/2024 23:04

Hi all, hope you don’t mind me jumping on. I’m on cycle 14 now and trying for baby number 2. Feeling really deflated with this tcc journey each time AF comes. Just hoping to see some positive stories and some BFP after a year of trying. Wishing you all lots of luck for your BFP’s soon

Goldendoodlelover · 09/01/2024 14:08

How is everyone getting on? I just had another pregnancy announcement in my friendship group and so feeling pretty deflated, so I hope other people are having more luck than I am!

winrol · 09/01/2024 14:53

Hi all, hope it's ok if I join?

Im 26 and came off my pill in September 2022 after 10 years, my periods took a while to get back to normal and I'd say it's only been around 4-5 months where my cycle has actually gone back to normal.

We haven't been 'trying' as such (no ovulation strips, temping, etc) but we also haven't been preventing and dtd very often so I'm quite worried that I haven't had a bfp yet after being off contraception for so long.

Af is here right now so once she goes I will be testing with ovulation strips and praying for a bfp soon

Flowers07 · 09/01/2024 16:09

sorry to hear that and sending you so much love it really is so heart breaking I know the feeling well! I pray you get your bfp soon. I am around 12dpo and I can already tell my period is going to arrive soon I am due this weekend so we shall see. I tested yesterday and bfn and now told myself I am not testing again and waiting for af to arrive. I recently was told by my gp and hospital my fertility appointment has been received however will take up to 12 months for an appointment with consultant I couldn’t believe it!! My partner has his sperm Count next week and waiting for results to maybe look at going private. I have had blood test ultra sounds all clear. Has anyone else experienced this with waiting for fertility consultation on nhs? I asked my gp if I could be referred for my tubes to be tested however was told this had to be a referral from fertility consultant so looking at paying private. Sorry for the long message I just feel pissed off hahah!

@Flowers07 thanks for the support ❤️ it’s so bittersweet as obviously I am very happy for my friends but it just makes me feel sad and then I feel guilty and feel worse! I’m sorry you are in the horrible waiting game - the mind games of when to test or not are not fun!

also that waiting time seems ridiculous! I’ve been very lucky in that I’ve managed to do my tests privately so far (but only with parental help, which I don’t feel great asking for) and I get the nhs is very overwhelmed right now but 12 months seems mad. See what the sperm analysis says - if worst comes to worst and there are abnormal results then hopefully at least you will be fast tracked?

Alice89R · 10/01/2024 08:05

@Flowers07 I know how you are feeling. We have been trying for 16 months. I have had my bloods and ultra sound with GP which we’re all fine. Husband had his SA which only shown (18% progressive sperm) so we think our issue is low sperm motility. Husband is now trying to change his life style to see if this helps but so far no joy. We have also both been taking a bucket load of vitamins each day. We are also waiting for our referral to a fertility clinic. I did get an appointment through for 28th December which was cancelled 4 days later due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’, I haven’t had anything through despite chasing.

I thought this month could have been my month as my period was randomly 4 days late which never happens. However, it’s arrived this morning.

Im 34 now and this terrifies me that I might never be a Mum. We are considering private but would need a loan for this and right now we just can’t do this.

I just wanted to reply to you and let you know that you are not alone. TTC is heartbreaking xx

Flowers07 · 10/01/2024 20:43

@Alice89R really sorry to hear that Alice and I completely know the feeling of fearing not being a mum. But got to hold hope haven’t we sending you love and baby dust

Flowers07 · 07/02/2024 08:55

Hi all I’m just coming on here to see how your all getting on any bfp? I’m really feeling hopeless at the minute and about to start af 12 dpo bfn!! Month 13! Has anyone in here had HyCoSy done or known of which has led to bfp? Thanks

FlyOnTheWall89 · 07/02/2024 09:39

@Flowers07 I'm not on this group but yes I had a Hycosy and the following month got pregnant. My baby girl turns 1 year this month. We had been trying for 14/15 cycles and were about to begin IVF - we had male factor infertility too... my tubes were clear but I can't help but truly believe it did make a difference! We are trying for number 2 now and I'll have another hycosy in maybe 6 months if we have no luck before then! X

Goldendoodlelover · 07/02/2024 11:11

Hey @Flowers07 - I had a Hycosy early December and no luck yet. Am currently on cycle 14, about 4dpo. Had a monitored cycle this month so an ultrasound scan and then HCG shot to trigger ovulation and am now on progesterone to see if that helps with pre-af spotting - apparently can also make your lining thicker / stickier as been wondering if implantation is the issue so hoping this will do a trick! I’m not holding out much hope though as have had a stinking cold for the last 10 days so I’m not exactly feeling fighting fit and baby ready!! Hope people are having more luck than me xx

Seasidegirll · 07/02/2024 12:38

I had a hycosy at the start of December and no BFP yet! We are on cycle number 21 (I think, I’m loosing count!!) so really feeling down about it all. We have our next fertility appointment next weeks and our consultant said she’s be about to apply got out ivf funding x

Flowers07 · 07/02/2024 16:32

That’s interesting @Goldendoodlelover as I also have pre af spotting and always thought if implantation was. An issue!! Are you from England ? I have rang a couple of private fertility clinics today who informed I would need an AMH blood test and follicle scan before hycosy test and I couldn’t just go straight for which tbh I am more Inclined to do so my eggs reserve can be checked!!no idea it’s such a minefield and something I thought I’d never have to be doing at 29 😫 but here we are!! Also good luck 🤞 I have everything crossed for you this cycle. Have you gone private for all of that ? X

Goldendoodlelover · 07/02/2024 17:50

@Flowers07 yeah I always have spotting for about a week before my period and my first doctor fobbed me off with this and said it was very normal but I have always worried it will affect implantation and I saw a second doctor who told me to give progesterone a go…

Yup I’m from England! I got a fertility MOT done about 8 months in (ultrasound, AMH, semen analysis) as I didn’t want to wait til a year mark and waiting lists in my area are soooo long. Anyway all came back normal which in one sense is great but it now means annoyingly I fit into the ‘unexplained category’ and so I apparently don’t qualify for any more investigation or treatment on the nhs?! NICE guidelines just say to wait until we have been trying for 2 years and then go for ivf :( so I also paid for the Hycosy privately and have now paid privately for the progesterone / trigger shot. It’s all adding up which I feel rather guilty about, especially because we don’t know what the actual problem is so not sure if I am throwing money at the right thing! Anyway they can learn a lot from an ultrasound and AMH is definitely useful to know so I wouldn’t worry that you have to get that done first…

Flowers07 · 07/02/2024 18:58

@Goldendoodlelover Did you get your progesterone test done ? I’ve had my mine and gp said no concerns and my blood test shows I ovulate so I’m not sure why I spot however mine isn’t as bad since I started vitamin b6 which I read about and can say it has helped not sure if that’s something you have looked at trying already. I have got cervical erosion though!! It’s such a shame as ivf is a big step and something that has also crossed my mind but like you say it’s so annoying with unexplained and each month you really feel hopeless so I completely understand where your coming from and the feelings you are feeling as you can’t often feel like others don’t always ‘get it’!! Like I said I really have everything crossed for us 🤞♥️

Goldendoodlelover · 07/02/2024 19:20

@Flowers07 yup I’ve had my progesterone done twice - both have technically been normal but on the low / borderline side (25 and 30 from memory) so evidence suggests I am ovulating but progesterone isn’t quite as high as I would like it to be. I actually have to do another progesterone test on Friday which I assume will be a lot higher! How do you know you have cervical erosion? Yeah tbh I have been really struggling with the unexplained thing - the uncertainty drives my anxiety and means I get my hopes up every month because there’s no reason in theory why it can’t happen. Sometimes I wish we had a diagnosis just so we had something to focus on and ‘fix’ if that makes sense…

mumsince2021 · 07/02/2024 20:08

Hi @Seasidegirll sorry to hear about the length of TTC I can sympathise. It took me 16 months to conceive my son and I also had a chemical before that. I know it's longer for you now but just wanted to share that it did eventually happen for me and I didn't do anything differently. It's just rubbish the bad luck some of us have every cycle. I'm TTC my second now and I'm at cycle 8 without any luck and have a feeling I'm in for over a year of trying again.

Flowers07 · 07/02/2024 21:31

@Seasidegirll good luck with your app completely get how your feeling with it all!! Hope you get your bfp soon
