Where do you buy First Response?

Hi, I want to buy some First Response Early Results tests but every shop I look in just has ClearBlue or own brands. Have looked in Boots, Superdrug (although not huge branches) and some supermarkets.

Where do you get them from?

I’ve always found them in pharmacies

Sunshineclouds11 · 07/08/2023 17:32

They've been discontinued due to giving false positives.

They've been discontinued due to giving false positives.

Seriously? This might explain why I couldn’t find any the other day

curliegirlie · 07/08/2023 20:02

I don't think so. A Google reveals nothing and certainly not relating to false positives - just various withdrawals from sale in previous years in non-UK countries for various things such as false negative and something relating to an app.

I'm not sure FRER false positives are a thing - they'll mostly be CPs because they can detect earlier HCG than other brands.

I'm intrigued in what the supply issue is though. So frustrating!!

CR7 · 07/08/2023 20:03

Discontinued- thank goodness. So many horror stories xx

DappledOliveGroves · 07/08/2023 20:04

I always got mine from Amazon. They still appear to be selling them.

No way, I’d heard they were the most reliable?

YoSof · 07/08/2023 20:05

They have not been discontinued and are one of the most reliable tests out there.
It was the fertility test that was discontinued.

My local Lloyds pharmacy stocks them, as does Amazon.

curliegirlie · 07/08/2023 20:09

And how anyone can talk about FRER horror stories when this forum is jam full of CB evaps?!! (Possibly because no one can get hold of FRERs anymore 😂)

CR7 · 07/08/2023 20:10

They were definitely recalled. Perhaps the errors have been rectified and they have been redesigned?

CR7 · 07/08/2023 20:11

Fyi

Fyi

That’s from the USA.

PointyMcguire · 07/08/2023 20:18

My BFP is currently refusing to go to bed, so definitely wasn’t a false positive 😂

I’ve always bought them from Amazon and a quick look suggests they’re still selling them. No idea what all the horror stories are supposedly about but doesn’t look like they’re recalled in the uk.

CR7 · 07/08/2023 20:24

@YoSof yes it is.

faban · 07/08/2023 20:46

I did a thread a while ago cos I couldn't find any. They are on Amazon but can't get them for about a week. Apparently they've been recalled cos of indents/evaps. Ive never had an issue tho

pineflump · 07/08/2023 20:50

Why can't I find any of these issues on google? I was led to believe FRER were the tests to get due to their accuracy? Per google boots and Amazon are selling them....

pineflump · 07/08/2023 20:51

I stand corrected. Boots no stock and Amazon a week wait!

faban · 07/08/2023 20:57

Boots early response are v good

Olika · 07/08/2023 21:43

Oh no I found them so good

Kellyaust · 08/08/2023 05:31

I had the evaps on these, both tests in the box!! Haven't used them since

bunnykins123 · 08/08/2023 05:45

Clear Blue have always been far worse than FRER for indents so this surprises me. I really hope it's temporary as I always found them really accurate!

Jazsimone · 08/08/2023 06:25

We managed to get first response in March from Lloyds 6 tests (IVF) and they all had indent lines/false positives. I did have a picture but I deleted it because it upset me so much.

I am pregnant now and used the early boots tests.

RedPandaFluff · 08/08/2023 18:32

I started a thread about nine months ago as I'd had IVF, was obsessed with testing, and found the quality of FRERs had deteriorated massively. I ended up using Wondfos from Amazon and they were great. And soooooo much cheaper!

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 13/08/2023 11:09

I'm glad they're discontinued, they're terrible at giving people false positives.
Why don't people just use easy at home? They also detect early x

NinaGeiger · 13/08/2023 11:24

Thanks everyone for your info. It's really interesting about these problems and the decline in quality. I'm surprised there hasn't been anything written about it in the media
