3 cycles of clomid, not pregnant. Should I bother to continue?

I've completed 3 cycles and each time BFN.
I feel like I've lost the motivation to continue as I don't really have much hope at this stage as although we were prescribed for 6 cycles, I have read online that after 3 cycles , if your not pregnant then your not going to get pregnant on subsequent cycles.
I'm just wondering has anyone got pregnant on cycle 4 / 5 /6 ?

Have they checked you are ovulating? ie, is the Clomid actually working?
i have PCOS and I had to take it before each of my pregnancies, and the dose which got me ovulating for my 1st DC, was not enough the time after. Basically, I took it for 1 or 2 cycles, the hospital checked whether I was ovulating, and I wasn’t so they had to up (I think it was double) the dose. And then it worked. And when I had my 3rd child, they had to up the dose again!
So I don’t know what your issue is, but I wouldn’t do all 6 cycles without checking (I had a scan and a blood test I think - can t remember), that the dose you are taking is actually getting you to ovulate. It might not.

I got pregnant on my 4th round of clomid, so I'd keep going. Good luck!

@CocoC yes I'm ovulating on the 50mg.
They were able to see a follicle on first and second round, and bloods confirmed ovulation took place

@Topsy1976 thankyou that's reassuring

I got pregnant on 6th round of clomid. Only change I made was using a Turkey Baster to shoot that sperm right up there (as I was sore from sex). It worked! Worked again for my DC2! No idea if that made a difference but it seemed to.

I got pregnant for the first time (after TTC for 2.5 years) on my 4th round of clomid. It sadly ended in a miscarriage and I didn't conceive on my 5th or 6th round, but it did seem to do something to me as I was then able to conceive naturally twice (although both sadly also ended in miscarriage). I then switched to letrozole and got pregnant on the first cycle (sadly also a miscarriage), but then again on the second cycle. That cycle was successful and after years of heartache, I now have a 10 month old baby. I would definitely keep going with it for the remaining 3 months but then would consider switching to letrozole afterwards if you haven't been successful as that was how I finally got my happy ending.

I actually used a large syringe - we just always call it a Turkey Baster 😂

@Mum1976Mum ah thats interesting. I was actually suggesting to dh that perhaps we should try a turkey baster 😆
The pressures of timing sex is so hard and this past cycle he actually told me that he dosent feel he has a strong ejaculation when doing it so often over ovulation. I figured trying something like that might help shoot it further 🙈

I got pg on 5th cycle of Clomid. That dc is 12 now. For me, adding metformin in seemed to make the difference though as I was what they described as a ‘skinny pcos-er’ it took a bit of persuasion to get the metformin prescribed.

It’s honestly worth a try. It’s the only thing that got me pregnant. My DH also had very lazy sperm so I do think they had a hard time making it. It also takes the pressure off having to have sex. I just sent DH into the bathroom for 10 mins with a clean pot and then he brought me back the goods. I got the syringe off Amazon - I think it was actually an insemination syringe. Then I lay with my legs up the wall, inserted it and waited in that position for half an hour. Best of luck!
