5 mg folic acid - changed anyones cycle ?

Taken FA since mid june..
Mid July onwards prescription dose..

Periods gone awol.
Anyone else had this ?
Its not been this late / long a wait all year ?

Yes! This happened to me.
I started taking 5mg of folic acid post methotrexate injection which I had for an ectopic. My periods were always clockwork 29 day cycle and 4 days of bleeding always ovulated on day 14.
Anyway the month after I started the high dose folic acid I was spotting before and after period, ovulation all over the place and cycle went to 31 days. Which I know is still normal but not for me.
I only put this down to the folic acid when I had my levels checked and it was 20>.
It could be due to the ectopic but I read another thread where others experienced the same issues after taking high dose folic acid.
Just worth noting this week I have got a vv faint line on a pregnancy test so it's not messed things up completely.
But I can relate so much to your post!

Yes, I’ve had this and actually decided to stop taking folic acid for conception. I’ll start again when I get a BFP.

My cycle is normally 30-33 days and last month it was 41 days and incredibly heavy and impacted my mood a lot. I also used it when I first started TTC in Dec/Jan and my cycle was 37 days so I stopped then but thought it may just be a one off which is why I tried taking it again. Clearly it wasn’t a one off as the month I tried it again was when I had the 41 day cycle.

Yeah.. i hear you - will try and talk 2 dr re it next week..
Im cycle day 38 ish - feel so nausea with it and mood changes & no sign of period

Prescription folic acid definitely increased cycle length
