Egg retrieval without sedation

Hi ladies,

I just started stims last night and I'm getting so much anxiety thinking about egg retrieval as my clinic is a low cost clinic and does not do sedation/anesthesia. I will only be given 10mg of Valium orally before the procedure.
Has anyone done this and can share their experience with me please?

Did they explain why/how that could occur? Do you still need to pay them? (presumably just for the meds and treatment so far?) Will you return there for another round, or look for a different clinic? Did they say how long to wait?

Thank you ♥️ I was in such a shock when they called me and I didn't ask about the money I paid for the whole cycle. I hope they will charge me only the cancellation fee and refund me the rest. If so, I will definitely look for a different clinic that does sedation/anaesthetic for the egg retrieval. The fertility specialist personally called me and explained that what I believed was my period was most probably not my period because my progesterone level was very high this morning suggesting that I had just ovulated! I feel like I've wasted a whole month and my body is failing me. How can it not be my period when it felt and looked like my normal period!! I still can't get my head around it 😔

Ah OP, that's so annoying! It's rare, but it can happen. What they will do is adjust the various hormones the next time round - there are specific drugs like pp have put above that STOP you ovulating too soon but sometimes the dosage isn't high enough to prevent your own hormones in combination with the follicle stimulating hormones over riding it. It's annoying OP, but it's so so common to have to stop and start over with IVF.

I still can't believe this happened as I just finished my period and still spotting. I had only used the gonal f 200 so far. Doctor thinks I mistook the bleed for my period when it was not my period. I'm still confused. My progesterone was higher than the normal range. It was also higher than normal range the last time they checked when I did all my fertility tests prior to starting the cycle. I'm so confused. My husband thinks we should probably just keep having unprotected sex and see what happens.
