Has anyone got a BFP after luteal spotting?

Getting so disheartened by this!! Every cycle I test for a positive OPK, dtd loads get ovulation symptoms then literally 7 days later I start spotting. It’s just happened again today and I’m sitting here crying. I’m waiting for a doctors appointment as we’ve been ttc for almost a year now but I’m preparing that they won’t take it seriously. I’m not sure what is causing it but it almost always starts at this same time of my cycle, it will probably stop in a few days and then I’ll get AF.

Are there any stories of getting a bfp after spotting like this?

I was on this thread a while ago.
Have had 2 BFPs since and unfortunately both were MMCs with babies stopping development at 6-8 weeks.
in any case on the BFP cycles I did spot around 4-9 dpo on the first one then it stopped. Other one I didn’t spot at all. I don’t think there is rhyme or reason to it tbh.

@HPrior I was taking Cilest combined pill. @CurlyWurly1991 I’m sorry to hear about your MMC, that sounds really tough 💐

Just thought I'd do an update on this thread. A year later I am still not pregnant and am about to start IVF. My fertility specialist has advised the most likely cause of the spotting (to clarify I now get it about 5 days before AF and then afterwards until a few days before ovulation - before period it's very light and after it is heavier/dark in colour) is anedomyosis. I had never heard of this condition before. It is similar to endometriosis but the cells grow into the wall of your uterus instead of outside on other organs. I may also have endometriosis as the conditions often go together but she said the spotting sounds typical of adenomyosis. I have no visible signs of aden on internal ultrasounds (sometimes there are). I also have a blocked tube. Just thought I'd update as I did so much googling on spotting and never came across adenomyosis.

Hello!

It's really interesting to hear this update - it sounds like I have a very similar bleeding pattern to you.

In July of last year I had a laparoscopy that diagnosed stage 4 endo and in September an internal ultrasound diagnosed adenomyosis. I too had never heard of it!

I really hope that the IVF brings you everything you deserve xx

@At28 thanks for the reply. My fertility specialist was quite against doing a laparoscopy. She said my symptoms were more indicative of aden and a lap could cause more damage. I am concerned about this as I have a friend who had 12 rounds of IVF and it only worked after a lap. She had endo with no symptoms. Can I ask did you have any pain with either condition? I have none apart from mild pain around ovulation. Did you do the lap for fertility reasons and if so did it help?

@H1994

I have had symptoms for the last 16 years that unfortunately have been brushed off by my previous GP. My symptoms have been pinchy cramping 10-7days prior to my cycle starting (most likely andeno), a lot of bowel pain, tiredness and brain fog, cramping that will stop me in my tracks, often very heavy and fast periods with clotting too.

I had quite extensive surgery in December to remove the lesions and cysts and also separate my bowel and uterus. This was done for both fertility and general pain. I actually had my postop appointment today with my consultant and he says that this is the best time to try naturally.

Thanks for updating the thread again and that’s interesting you got a diagnosis - I have never heard of anedomyosis and I did a lot of Googling - I had a caesarean and I’m quite sure they have a good look inside and no issues were reported.

I had my baby boy 9 months ago and since my periods restarted, I have no spotting at all. Interestingly besides EWCM, I get no ovulation or PMS symptoms whereas previously after ovulation my boobs would be agony, I would be bloated and obviously had the spotting. I’m wondering if mine was hormonal and has now balanced itself.
