Is this a faulty test?! I've had two do this now!

Quick background, I am completely freaked out - my period which is normally like clockwork is a week late - I was actually thinking peri as I've been feeling a bit weird recently, and I was going to go to the GP to ask if there was a way they could tell whether I'm in peri or not (I'm very late 30s and my mum had hers start kicking in around this age) but I knew they'd ask about pregnancy first, so I did a test just so I could say I've done one. It came up like this, and so did the other one in the packet. And now I'm completely panicked because I've only been in a relationship for a few months and this was not on the agenda at all.

Is it possible there could be a pack of two and both are faulty do you think? Sorry for awful image quality I had to zoom in but it's like there's half a line then it just sort of disappears? Surely if I'm a week late the line would be super strong and complete if it was a true positive?

I think I'm going to have to find a way to slip out to get more as I'm not sure I can last until morning, it feels like an eternity.

I’d say that’s a faulty test. Get a boots own early results one, I found them really good.

Mummysparrow · 12/07/2023 21:07

That brand is normally a good one but the fact the line isn't solid suggests to me it might be faulty

TheDuchessOfMN · 12/07/2023 21:07

I think that is positive 😬

Yeahyeahno · 12/07/2023 21:08

False positives are extremely rare. It has to detect a hormone for the line to show. Two tests have brought up a line? You’re pregnant. Sorry if not what you wanted

LooseInTheCity · 12/07/2023 21:09

It looks positive to me

quietnightmare · 12/07/2023 21:10

Test agin. To be sure either way. Good luck

Yeahyeahno · 12/07/2023 21:15

I think with two tests you can be sure. With one you can be if positive

.

It is possible they're both faulty... I had 2 faulty Frers in the same pack! I wouldn't take that as a positive test at all. Get another brand like boots.... Clearblue and frer are shocking

TeaKitten · 12/07/2023 22:05

I’d say faulty, but probably still positive

Posypointshoes · 12/07/2023 22:39

I haven’t been able to get out anywhere so I’m going to have to go first thing tomorrow. God knows how I’m going to be able to sleep tonight

🙈 I'd say pregnant, to have them both do that is strange tho. I'd love to magic you over a test you can do now even I'm impatient to know 🙈😂

Blossomandbee · 12/07/2023 23:20

Definitely re test, but although the line is obviously broken, it's definitely still a pink line rather than a dye run. I would guess it's positive. I hope you get the outcome you want.

TheDuchessOfMN · 13/07/2023 15:16

Did you test again?

Posypointshoes · 14/07/2023 13:22

Sorry I disappeared, I did text again and again...and again and again...and it's positive. I was a bit in shock which is why I didn't come back to post and am only just getting my head around it now - I'd experienced pregnancy losses in a prior relationship and had made my peace that this was life now, not expecting this to happen at my age or in this new relationship and having taken precautions!

The lines on the other tests came up immediately, really dark and as clear as day so there's no doubting it now.

Ah, I thought they were positive. It must be a huge shock. Give yourself some time to get your head around it, before you make any decisions.
