Is it normal to ovulate at different times each month?

Been ttc for 9 months - I have always used ovulation tests.

Recently my ovulation tests seem to be a bit over the place - I usually ovulate around cycle day 18 but the past couple of months I've ovulated as late as 21/22!

This in turn has obviously made my periods come on later.

Is this normal for ovulation days to fluctuate or should they always be a set day for yourself? Panicking a bit as I'm now on cycle day 36 waiting for my period (def not pregnant). Normally my cycles would be 29-34 days long.

Thank you in advance

have you been stressed / taken any new meds or vitamins / are you certain you’re using good opks?

@satellitesunshine

I'm always stressed :( but I do think I've not been as stressed recently.

I'm taking some new natural hormone 'gummies' but only for about a month so I don't think it's those

I don’t think that’s a huge variation in ovulation date. Mine varies that much and I didn’t have any problems getting pregnant. I’m not trying to be insensitive, I’m just saying that the variation isn’t necessarily a problem.

Do you have a consistent length of time between ovulation and period starting?

If you’ve been trying for 9 months and have been tracking ovulation etc I think it may be worth starting to think about a visit to the GP for you and your DP.

@Hazelnuttella

Oh that's good to hear thank you. I've obviously been googling and worried myself that it's perimenopause or something else.

Thank you

My ovulation date alternates from day 16 to day 20 each month which means my cycles alternate between 28 and 32 days. I guess one ovary goes earlier than the other. I have one DC who was conceived on the second month of trying so didn’t have an affect then. Now on cycle 4 TTC#2

My cycles were never regular…varied between 28 days and 38 days. I got pregnant both times with absolutely no problems so it clearly didn’t affect my fertility.
Bizarrely enough now that I’m 49 and you’d assume perimenopausal, I’m as regular as clockwork 🤷🏻‍♀️
