Hi all

I’m pretty sorted in terms of reading/understanding tests so no help required there but I’d love to hear thoughts on testing throughout the day?

For the last few cycles I’ve tested most days first thing (around 6:30am) and this has meant I’ve caught very clear positives. However, I’ve heard you should test twice a day as you get closer to ovulation? Flo is saying that should be this week so I’m wondering when I should take second test and if I need to not wee for a certain amount of time?

I work full time so haven’t typically done this as a bit tricky to do at work but have bought stuff with me today as I really don’t want to miss anything!

Thank you in advance for tips!!

I saw on the premom app that best time to test LH is afternoon/after lunch as there's a build up of LH. When I'm nearing the predicted ovulation time, I usually test twice, morning and evening (around 6/7pm) and when I start to see an increase, I tend to (go a bit crazy 😅and) test throughout the day. I've got a peak at various times during the day. it all depends how much information you want and how specific you want to know when the exact peak is. I also noticed that when my pee was too diluted it did skew the test (had a big dip) especially when it was peaking.

I think just focus on what/when you can test, testing twice will give you a better timing than once a day so I'd recommend so. some people its a quick surge and some people's surge occurs over a period of a day to a day and half. if you have been catching it the last few months then that should help and its a matter of how exact you want to know the peak.

From what I’ve been reading since starting TTC’ing first morning urine isn’t what you use and usually around 11/12 lunchtime after a hold. Then evening time.

i’ve been following these times now for 6 months and have always caught my peak more so in the evening and then a few hours after peak it starts dropping again.

if you have downloaded the Premom app you can upload your tests on there also to get a reading.

Thanks both! It’s weird because first urine of the day has given me positive results in the last three months or so so I haven’t needed to test twice in a day. Going to try and test in about an hour (if I don’t see myself before then) as this morning’s test was still negative.

have just started using premom so I’ll see how I get on with that. I may have missed the boat with this cycle though according to Flo I should be ovulating on Friday and my CM is very egg white at the moment so that would make sense!

im just going to keep testing and DTD every day this week and hope for the best!!

I meant wee myself, not see myself 🤣

Hey MrsBP, I usually get my peak with second morning urine. I drink so much water that I find it virtually impossible to get a decent hold during the day. The best I can do is at the end of the day (I can hold for a bit longer once I've stopped working) and early morning, I can usually get my rise with those timings over my fertile week.

If you get positives first thing, keep going with that :)

They advise between 10am-8pm and not to use first morning urine. I tested around 6pm each day with around a 3 hour urine hold. The premom app was really useful, but when taking the photos take them in the same place every day with the same lighting so you get the most accurate shots
