Bea Fertility - has anyone tried this?

My husband and I have been trying for nearly two years with no luck. We’ve been for the tests and he has low motility and poor sperm morphology. We are willing to try almost anything to conceive, especially as getting onto the ivf waitlist is still a little while off.

You can probably imagine the tonnes of ivf and fertility adverts the algorithms throw at me and one caught my eye recently: Bea Fertility. It’s an at-home fertility kit and the treatment is called intracervical insemination. It’s currently £250 for three cycles worth. I’m definitely curious but also apprehensive to commit to it as I’m struggling to find any reviews or success stories. My wonderful (but incredibly cynical husband) has already quipped, ‘If it looks like s*t and smells like st, then it’s probably s*t’. I’m not quite ready to write it off just yet!

So, here I am… Mumsnetters: any opinion on Bea Fertility? Success stories? Non-success stories? Opinions?

Hi, I’m in exactly the same position - I think it’s only just launched so haven’t been able to find any reviews but I’m curious and also willing to try anything! I was planning to get it next month…I figure it’s worth a try and it’s a fraction of the price of IVF. I just hope it’s easy enough to use and doesn’t cause more stress in what is already a stressful situation! Good luck 🤞🏼

I’ve just seen that the price has increased to £350!!

Priceslice · 15/07/2023 22:42

I saw this the other day - can’t believe it has gone up already! I’ve been looking into intracervical insemination and there are other companies doing this at a cheaper rate. However, Bea Fertility does look somewhat better as the others basically sell you turkey basters and Bea Fertility has that little cup that you insert for an hour. I’m still debating whether to go for it. Let me know what you decide and I’d love to hear about your experience.

I thought the same when I saw some cheaper options on Amazon. The reviews are pretty good and they’re only about £35 but I’m not sure I trust them so much! I’ll keep you updated and would love to hear about your experience if you do decide to go for it

I've not used Bea but I did use Twoplus which got me pregnant in 2 cycles (only used one applicator each cycle too). Unfortunately ended in miscarriage, but that's not the fault of the conception aid! It was such a stress reliever for us as I have a trauma response to forced intercourse if I'm not relaxed and my partner has issues with ejaculating under pressure too, so it just meant we could be ourselves. I'd recommend it, it's £110 for 3 with the extra applicator you leave for an hour to give a bit of extra help/prevent leakage (think it's on offer at the moment too).

Thank you so much - this is useful!

Hi, I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Thank you, that’s good to know about TwoPlus. The price is much better than Bea!

moosey89 · 18/07/2023 19:04

@Barbs3116 thank you - we'll be trying again next month and have already bought my next kit ready. They post it super quickly too.

CurlyWurly1991 · 04/08/2023 18:27

Jumping on this thread to find out if you’d had any further luck with these types of kits?
We are TTC #2 and using a mix of self insemination and usual DTD. Don’t have the bea kit though. Using a similar approach although no luck over past 3 cycles.

moosey89 · 04/08/2023 18:37

@CurlyWurly1991 I got an email just last week from TwoPlus saying they've reduced prices which in my opinion makes it a bargain! We'll be using them again from this month, first try since miscarriage x

CurlyWurly1991 · 04/08/2023 21:23

@moosey89 im sorry to you experienced a miscarriage. Wishing you the best of luck with the TwoPlus, I haven’t heard of that so will have a look now x

Barbs3116 · 04/08/2023 21:54

@moosey89 I got the same email and bought it right away! Such good value. We’ll be trying it for the first time this month..will keep you both posted. Wishing you the best of luck x

moosey89 · 04/08/2023 23:03

@Barbs3116 fingers crossed for you! Would love for you to get your BFP this month x

Priceslice · 09/09/2023 15:06

I’ve bitten the bullet and ordered a TwoPlus kit as there’s an extra 15% off right now. Figured it’s worth a shot before we hopefully go onto the IVF waitlist in the next few months. I’ll keep you updated!

@Priceslice good luck! They're not too expensive so worth a go 😊

Priceslice · 09/09/2023 16:24

@moosey89 Thank you 😊we thought the same, especially after looking at the price of IVF. Hope it’s all going well for you.

@Priceslice we’re on our 2nd month trying TwoPlus and I’d really recommend it! We’re in the TWW now so not sure if it’s been successful this month but I have to say it’s really easy to use, it’s taken the pressure off a bit and definitely worth a try before going down the IVF route. @moosey89 thanks again for your recommendation 😊

Simim · 11/03/2024 12:16

am thinking of giving Bea or two plus a go. Similar to others not sure but worth a try, esp before we go down the ivf route!

Barbs3116 · 11/03/2024 18:35

@Simim I’d absolutely recommend giving TwoPlus a go! I can’t say for sure that it worked but we conceived during the second month and I’m currently 29W 😊 Wishing you all the best with your journey. @moosey89 I can’t thank you enough for the recommendation!

Simim · 11/03/2024 19:37

Thanks @Barbs3116 great to hear: just looking two plus has a semen holder as well as the insemination. Not sure which to use and also wondering why two plus is much cheaper than Bea! But will defo give one a go. We are into our 40s so any help would be good!

Simim · 11/03/2024 19:42

@Priceslice donyou mind if I ask which product you are trying?

Priceslice · 11/03/2024 20:17

Hi @Simim we opted for a TwoPlus kit. We used it two or three times in one window but struggled with it; it was uncomfortable, got stuck in awkward places and didn’t make for a relaxing experience (quite the opposite!). We’re having our initial NHS IVF appointment tomorrow but still have our fingers crossed that we can conceive naturally. Maybe I’ll have to get the TwoPlus kit back out in our next window - thanks for the prompt!
