Tested - but not FMU - can I trust it?

My period is currently 4 days late. I picked up a test on my way to work this morning, and tested as soon as I got into the office. It looked like a clear negative to me, but obviously wasn’t my FMU, as I’d already used the toilet at home.

Given that I’m 4 days late (so approx 18 DPO), and that it was an early-response pink dye test, can I assume that this negative result is accurate and I’m not pregnant? Or do I need to test again with FMU?

I would say if you are 4 days late you should expect a very visible line, regardless of the time of day. Sorry op x

I don't think FMU is a necessity anymore. At 4 days late you would get a positive at any time.

Thanks both. That’s ok. I just didn’t want to be wasting money on loads and loads of tests but be doubting the results. A negative is fine, I just wanted to be sure one way or another.

It depends when you last had unprotected sex you could be late on your period due to late ovulation so there still could of been a time frame where you could of got pregnant if you have had sex unprotected and your late I'd do another test in a few days because it could still be too early due to late ovulation possibly

@tigerlillyxxx 2 days before estimated ovulation, and a couple of times since but I can’t remember which exact dates.

If them man cumed in you 2 days before estimated ovulation and your period is regular most months then there's a chance of pregnancy because sperm can stay alive in you for up to 5 days and with your ovulation day being 2 days away there's was a chance I'd personally take another test in a few days just to make sure hopefully you come on your period by then but don't worry stress is a cause and or being sick or over tiredness or exercise can also make you late on period xoxo
