Anyone have experience of TTC when suffering from recurrent UTIs?

As the title says, I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience of TTC when you have recurrent cystitis and/or UTIs?
I am prescribed a prophylactic dose of trimethoprim but I’ve read that isn’t recommended for use in the first trimester, and that there is research to suggest that taking it in the 12 weeks before conception is problematic, but I’m wondering how I can TTC if I can’t take anything to try to prevent UTIs.

I also take D Mannose, but there seem to be mixed views on whether that has a potential impact on conception too.

I will speak to my GP but thought I’d see if anyone has any experience or advice here as well ☺️ Thank you

Stop taking the D Manoose as there is not enough research on its impact on conception.

I have just finished a course of trimethoprim at 6 months pregnant. It's one of the safest ones to take.

I have suffered from UTIs for 20yrs so can completely understand the impact they have on a person.

During my first pregnancy l had reoccurring UTIs, eventually l had to spend 5 days in hospital with a rare UTI which required IV.

I would speak to your GP about ongoing treatment as you will definitely experience UTIs during your pregnancy ( baby pressing on bladder) and for people like us it is more difficult from this perspective.

Thank you for this. It’s good to know it’s not insurmountable, even if I have to accept that if I do conceive I’m going to get some infections.
I was wondering if I was mad even considering TTC, so it’s good to hear it’s possible.
