Hi all,

basically just a thread on asking those who where lucky enough to get their BFP, what did you do differently that month that you felt may have contributed to your BFP?

I’m just looking on lots of different ideas on what I could try.

I’m CD 6 and fertile window is predicted to start in 5 days.
Last month we BD every day of fertile window starting the day before and continued on 2 days after ovulation. (It was tiring lol) but no luck.

at the minute I’m taking vitamins
Seven Seas - Trying for a baby
Omega 3 fish oil
Calcium with Vitamin D and K
Vitamin C
(I did give Macca root a go last month and had no problem with it but was scared after then reading reviews on here so haven’t taken this month)
tracking using Easy @ Home tests & Premom app.

even if not proven that what you changed help, all advice welcome. 💜

I tried for two years basing it around my predicted fertile days. When in actuality both times I got my BFP it was less than a week after my period had ended. I ovulate super early for some reason 🤷🏻‍♀️ I had a scan early in the month which confirmed this. Try and DTD spread across the whole month to increase your chances.

I also saw a blog online about eating lots of bread and butter (food of conception in the DRs words) I did this and it is obviously just a coincidence that I happened to have got pregnant 🤣 I have never been able to find that blog again which is spooky.

Best of luck OP x

@DeflatedAgain did you use ovulation tests? I don't see a rise in mine until the day before predicted ovulation and then it's accompanied by ovulation pain 🙈 I am looking to get into a doctor as last month during my TWW I had alot of lower pain around my right ovary and mildly on left which I told myself I was pregnant but was BFN. I had suffered with Endo and PCOS but haven't had a flare up in a very long time.

Oh funny enough, I had toast with loads of butter this morning for the first time in a long time, I may keep it up throughout the next few weeks to see lol.

Thank you x

@Nmmck93 I didn't to be honest, I found the whole thing stressful and would spend so much money on tests all the time. I did use them sometimes, especially at the beginning but I felt like my body would change when I ovulated all the time so it was too difficult to keep up with - I would always test the wrong dates. I was very surprised when I was made aware that I ovulate some months earlier than usual, definitely explained my struggles with TTC.

Really hope you have an easy journey with it, try to relax and enjoy the process 🙂

I did SMEP and used clear blue fertility monitor the month I got pregnant. Now 15 weeks x

Mushroo · 06/06/2023 12:14

I used OPKs for the first time, but mainly I just relaxed! It was Easter weekend, so had lots of nice lie ins, food, chocolate, wine.

Sex wasn’t forced, I was really in the mood the whole weekend!

CaribbeanCupcake · 06/06/2023 12:20

How long have you been trying @Nmmck93 ?

tulipsunday · 06/06/2023 12:21

Used the preseed with the internal applicators. Good luck OP x

Nmmck93 · 06/06/2023 12:22

Thank you all for the advice so far;
Actively trying since February, but haven't been preventing since around October.
But feb introduced OPKs, tracking etc.

I haven't been able to get the hang of BBT tracking as I just kept forgetting more.

I know we haven't been actively trying long, but each month we're trying things differently and just want loads of advice and new things to try.

I stopped tracking completely. Had given up on having another.

Wasn't on contraception, would instinctively know from tracking for years when not to have sex etc.

Was so stressed out, hadn't had sex in weeks and then randomly one night we did. Shortly after my period. Must have ovulated really early.

SnookyPook · 06/06/2023 13:02

With my first I got pregnant on my 4th cycle after starting to use opks and increasing amount of dtd on fertile days... Basically timing dtd better and doing more of it! With my 2nd pregnancy this worked on cycle 3 (at the age of 37) although unfortunately ended as a mmc.

All pretty obvious stuff. I do also agree with trying to relax into DTD so it's fun and enjoyable too and listen to your own desires as I think often your body knows when it's ready for it!

Nmmck93 · 07/06/2023 09:51

Thank you everyone;

i’m tracking with OPKs still this month but thinking of doing the more relaxed approach and DTD when in the mood, I don’t have a problem getting into the mood and OH doesn’t have a problem preforming and finishing.

last month we literally were flat out DTD every day of fertile window but then read up that every other day is the best.

we are moving house and to be moved in on day of ovulation so we discussed and said we’ll just take it in our stride and just chill out and enjoy it.

I’ve looked up the preseed lube so might give that a go aswell.

after DTD I lay with my hips elevated for 20 minutes just to help sperm swim up.

it’s all so stressful when you really really want it.

congrats to all who has had successful positive pregnacnies & thank you for the advice it will help many others. 💜

We spent 16 months NTNP with no sign of a BFP. Then started using OPKs so better timing, taking folic acid, staying lay down for at least 10 mins after dtd and using preseed and fell pregnant on the third cycle.

PilarG · 07/06/2023 15:44

This is what I did different (after 2 miscarriages) I am 36...

I started taking vitamins 'ovosicare' recommended by my endocrinologist

I also started seeing a Traditional Chinese medicine doctor and started reading books about pregnancy from a traditional chinese medicine view.
It helped me understand my body a lot... and change my diet to prepare for pregnancy based on my body constitution...

I also had chinese herbs specially prescribed by my chinese doctor (I don't recommend buying on internet without seeing a specialist first)

I stopped doing yoga/pilates/swimming my only exercise was taking long walks

I tried to relax as much as possible at home...

mommabear64 · 07/06/2023 16:42

No idea if its worked yet but we tried to have me orgasm after dtd because we read it makes your cervix dip and makes conception more likely. Might be old wives tales but hey! I'm not complaining lol.

MistyFrequencies · 07/06/2023 16:45

Lost weight.

Sunshineclouds11 · 07/06/2023 16:51

I didn't track ovulation last month for the first
time in forever and got my BFP 🙊🙈

FrenchandSaunders · 07/06/2023 16:54

Barely saw each other 😂

I had been away with work and a couple of hen dos that month, same for him (stag!). I think we had sex once that month which resulted in our twin girls …. after four years of trying to
conceive and having much more sex!

couldn’t believe it!

Remaker · 07/06/2023 17:06

I had a Pap smear on the day I ovulated. I’ve always wondered if getting my cervix cranked open might have helped!

MuppetTime · 07/06/2023 18:05

Got pneumonia and only dtd once as was still recovering.... had been trying everything for over a year then the one time it worked was the month I'd ruled out.

BellsB1 · 07/06/2023 20:54

Same here, we barely saw each other as he was away for work over the majority of my fertile window (clearly not all of it!)

I was frustrated thinking we had wasted a month, after TTC for a year... then we got our BFP ❤

Hankthehonk · 07/06/2023 22:50

The main thing for both my pregnancies (although I sadly miscarried the second) was running regularly.
I have a bit of hormonal irregularity but regular cardio exercise seems to help massively. I conceived both times when I was at my fittest.

summersun29 · 07/06/2023 23:09

Apparently I ovulated day 18 the cycle we conceived so having sex later than I thought did it! Before, we were DTD too early. Also started using Natural Cycles app a couple of cycles before, I swear that helped.

Matildahoney · 07/06/2023 23:26

I lost weight, we were ridiculously busy with him moving in, not tracking anything & just having sex when we wanted to, no stress, no hassle, no pressure, was shocked to get my bfp that month especially as I'd ovulated before day 13 of my cycle! 10 weeks now. 🤞🤞

Borkled · 08/06/2023 06:54

Things that worked: pre-seed, fertilily

Things that didn’t: grapefruit juice, guaferisin(sp?), pineapple, acupuncture.

MixedCouple · 18/07/2023 22:06

I got pregnant First Months TTC. But we spent 6months prepping. Diet change, exercise and had been taking supplements Vit D, Cod Liver Oil, Folic acid 2 months before hand.
So no idea if that helped or not. Just a pot luck.
