Were your early pregnancy signs different from typical AF symptoms?

Hey all! I’m currently on month 8 of ttc baby #1. No luck yet but I’m always so interested to read peoples early pregnancy signs.

for those who have been pregnant before, were your early pregnancy signs the same or different to your usual signs of AF?

I see lots of threads where people are listing symptoms and stating they’re ‘different to usual af’ but I wonder - was there much difference compared with when you were actually pregnant?

It was a long time ago, had been trying for almost 3 yrs.

About a week before my period was due we went for lunch, it was summer time. Fish and chips type place.
I like food.

They did small side salads with a slice of orange on top and I remember really really needing that fresh salad!

Around the time my period was due I had this weird dragging pain that was much more piercing and in one place. Rather than that low crampy all over pain.
So a different feeling of pre period pain.

I usually get lower back pain/cramping during AF but when I was pregnant I had strong lower back pain for the last 2 weeks of my cycle before missed period.

The month I fell pregnant I had zero symptoms! No nausea (which I do tend to get), no pre-period leg pains... I just had one night of AWFUL cramps. I was convinced it was my period... But I was pregnant!

About four or five days after doing the deed I could feel something happening in lower abdomen, a bit of a piercing, stabbing and tugging sensation. It happened both times I got pregnant so I knew I was pregnant before taking a test.

I am quite in tune with my cycles and luckily got pregnant first month of trying with each child. I mentioned knowing before the test to the sonographer and she wasn’t surprised, she said it’s quite common and some women can just feel it happening!

Both times I fell pregnant, I noticed being more gassy (belching!) from around 5dpo. I also had creamy CM around a similar time and bit nauseous/increased appetite but not massively. With my first I had really tender/heavy boobs. With my second I had a day of AF type cramps at 8dpo - far earlier than usual. Pretty sure that was implantation. None of these are typical AF things for me.

I also had my typical pre-AF cramps two days before AF was due, to the extent I was convinced I was out of luck that month but period never turned up and got the BFP. Was more prepared with my 2nd that this wasn't necessarily bad news.

Unfortunately my second pregnancy recently ended with a MMC so will be back to TTC and symptom spotting again soon... But for me, these indicators have been correct twice so I feel I know what to look for for myself at least!

Boobs were extra sore

Tempeliz · 24/05/2023 09:38

I didn’t have many symptoms.. boobs were sore (but they usually are for 7-10 days before AF arrives), felt lethargic (but again quite usual for me before my period), had more creamy CM than usual and had crampy/sharp pain in my lower stomach on one side which I’d never had before.

I don't tend to get many AF symptoms but the month I conceived I was really gassy by 7DPO (lots of burping) and the days after that the nausea was awful. Positive test at 10DPO. DH thought I was making it up symptom spotting but I've never experienced gas or nausea like it, nothing like AF.

I'm 4 dpo and litreallt never had as much cm now than I do now , plus I'm cramping just one side xx

I had all the usual AF symptoms but with an added weird taste in my mouth, I could t drink tea as it tasted all wrong. I had that both times.

Before I found out I was PG the first time (unplanned), I lost all tolerance to alcohol, I had a glass of wine and had to be taken home 😂. I was about 2 days late at that point so very early days.
