Have I ovulated?

ABLOSSOM · 23/05/2023 10:25

Hi - I hope someone can help! I got a positive OPK CD35 and this lasted for 3 days (see images below) and not sure if I've ovulated or not.

My cycles are irregular and this is my first time tracking BBT. Looking at the graphs do you think I've ovulated? I'm so lost with it all and just looking for reassurance!

Usually bbt starts dropping 1-2 days before af or on the day of af but there are also chart that had these drops and ended up being bfp so don’t read too much into your temps the only thing that matters is that it confirms ovulation.

ABLOSSOM · 27/05/2023 08:56

Thank you all for the reassurance! BBT is just all new to me and just praying it's this cycle! 🙈

@dabs9 I didn't know implantation can occur 6DPO so hopefully it's that! You'll have to keep us updated on your journey too- when are you going to test? I'm trying to hold out until after AF due and purposefully not got any tests in the house.... doubt I'll be able to stick to that though! 😂

@emmatcc1 thank you! I keep telling myself not to worry about all of it, but I'm just overthinking every little thing and just want to know now!

@ABLOSSOM it's not the time of day that matters for bbt, it's taking it the moment you wake up, without moving at all that gets the best results. It doesn't really matter what time of day that is. That will give you the lost accurate result.

When I got my bfp I saw a slight dip (but still over the cover line) for a couple days before af was due, but then it went back up and stayed at the higher point.

ABLOSSOM · 27/05/2023 10:04

@goldmirror oh that's good then - I always do it first thing in the morning before anything else and it's usually within the same 45 minutes! Thank you for the reassurance. I think because we've been trying for 10 months and I have irregular cycles I'm just so anxious it may never happen!

goldmirror · 27/05/2023 10:44

@ABLOSSOM you sound like me, I had really irregular cycles too, I did quite a few things to help it along like seeing a nutritionist, acupuncture and various vitamins. My first is almost a teenager now, but I still remember all the temping! Good luck!

Lalalucy123 · 27/05/2023 12:38

@ABLOSSOM How are you feeling today? Any symptoms? Your right trying to hold off on the early testing. I always do it and it’s so stressful especially with all the indents out there. I’ve promised myself I won’t do it this cycle 🤞

ABLOSSOM · 27/05/2023 14:35

@goldmirror awww amazing I'm glad it all worked out for you 🩷 gives me some hope!

@Lalalucy123 I'm doing ok really, had some bloating over the last few days but with it being really early on I don't think I would have any symptoms anyway so just going with the flow really! I don't have any prior symptoms to go off either as my cycles are so irregular 🙈 trying to distract myself with it all and just hope it is a positive this month 🥰 how are you? X x

Lalalucy123 · 27/05/2023 22:56

@ABLOSSOM I’m doing fine! This will be our 12th month of trying so I have some mixed emotions about that obviously. The plan is to be a little bit more relaxed with it all this month. No symptom spotting or early testing hopefully

ABLOSSOM · 28/05/2023 11:30

@Lalalucy123 were in a similar position - this is month 10 for us. It's so hard trying to distract yourself and not get your hopes up. It consumes me so much! Fingers crossed for you though and please keep us updated 🥰

Good morning! How is everyone getting on this cycle? My temp is still high (see image) which is good but I have had 0 symptoms and around 7/8DPO which worries me! Still refusing to buy any tests and going to see friends today to distract myself.

Does anyone know how many days before AF temps drop if BFN?

Have a wonderful day everyone!Biscuit

@ABLOSSOM Mine has a small drop 2 days before and then a bigger drop a day before but everyone is different.

dabs9 · 29/05/2023 07:43

Morning, mine is usually 2-3 days before AF that it drops.
When do you think you'll test? Or will you wait for af?

Lalalucy123 · 29/05/2023 11:02

@ABLOSSOM I wouldn’t worry about the no symptoms. From everything I’ve read no symptoms before missed period seems to be very common.

When do you normally start to get AF symptoms? It’s always the tender breasts for me first.

ABLOSSOM · 29/05/2023 19:04

@Lalalucy123 tbf I haven't been keeping track of AF symptoms and because my cycles are so irregular it's hard to know when to make note 🙈 I know I ALWAYS get cramps a day before so I guess that will be an indicator for me.

So I woke up this morning around 6am and just randomly tested BBT and it was 36.43 which is a BIG drop - see graph below. I fell back asleep and tested now I just woke up again and it's 36.67 which do I go with? Does it look like I'm out now as the temp is not increasing?

It’s too early to tell… try not to worry.
FWIW I also have v irregular and long cycles, in my case I think it’s a hormone imbalance / beginnings of perimenopause. Not great when you have decided to TTC #2! I’m late 30s but hopeful I am still in with a chance.
have you looked at Agnus castus / Vitex for regulating cycles - best via a herbalist?
i would try and distract yourself during the TWW as it’s out of your hands now…

Lalalucy123 · 30/05/2023 10:15

@ABLOSSOM I wouldn’t worry too much about drop at this stage. For all you know it could shoot back up tomorrow. Also BBT can be very inaccurate for many reasons mentioned before. You need at least 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep for accurate BBT. So I would take the first measurement.

I found taking BBT very stressful so don’t do it anymore. If I were you I would maybe consider stop taking BBT after ovulation has been confirmed. It’s kinda like early testing. It won’t change the outcome to wait and just find out for definite when period is due. Saves you the extra stressing during 2WW. That’s just my perspective however 😊

ABLOSSOM · 30/05/2023 16:08

@TiddleTaddleTat thank you for that. I know it's so hard and I would be giving someone that same advice but then taking it yourself is much more difficult 🙈 I've never heard of them but will definitely look into it - can you get that online?

@Lalalucy123 you are sooo right! I think if this month isn't the one then I will definitely do that and just use it to confirm ovulation because I am driving myself crazy.. I was even testing last night for no reason at all 🙄 I annoy myself with it!

On a positive note, the doctors are FINALLY going to start looking into it more as it's nearly been a year. They already ruled out PCOS in January so they're going to do bloods. I have no idea what they're looking at as the abbreviations mean nothing to me 🤣 I'll put them below in case anyone knows and can shed some light!

FSH, LH, PROL, SHBG, TEST, TSH, RUBG

OP posts:
Lalalucy123 · 30/05/2023 23:14

@ABLOSSOM They look like the standard bloods for hormonal issues related to TTC. TSH is related to your thyroid. Prol is prolactin. Issues with that are rare I believe. SHBG is a sex hormone related to testosterone so is often elevated in PCOS. They check your ratio of LH to FSH which is also often a bit wonky in PCOS.

ABLOSSOM · 31/05/2023 09:20

@Lalalucy123 thank you for that! I think I'm out, BFN this morning and my temp was 36.2 (did at 5:30 this morning so temp adjusted to 36.45) but got 0 symptoms and on CD46 which is obviously not positive. AF due on Sunday.

OP posts:
Lalalucy123 · 31/05/2023 17:58

@ABLOSSOM Your definitely not out yet if your only 9/10 dpo. I was literally the exact same as you last month. I tested 8, 9 and 10 dpo and declared myself out and then spent the next 3 days trying to convince myself I still had a chance 😅 It’s why I’ve decided I’m definitely not early testing anymore.

It all messes with your head so much.

ABLOSSOM · 31/05/2023 19:00

@Lalalucy123 it is definitely messing with my head. I had another acupuncture session tonight and we discussed it at length. Tracking is so important but also it takes up so much of your time and energy and you can become obsessed (I certainly am!) I'm trying to remain positive but realistic. If not this cycle then hopefully next!

How are you getting on?

OP posts:
Lalalucy123 · 31/05/2023 20:17

@ABLOSSOM Your absolutely right. It’s such a learning experience 😂

I’m fine. I’m only CD9. I have a scan tomorrow as I’m taking Letrozole this cycle to induce/strengthen ovulation. This will be my second medicated cycle. I didn’t ovulate until CD 19 last month so I assume it will be the same this month. Fingers crossed this will be the one!

ABLOSSOM · 02/06/2023 19:01

@Lalalucy123 I hope the scan went ok! X

OP posts:
Lalalucy123 · 02/06/2023 23:51

@ABLOSSOM The scan went not great but as expected. No mature follicles at day 10. This was the same last month however and when I went back for another scan a few days later there were 2 mature follicles. I have my fingers crossed for the same this month. I’m going back in for another scan on Wednesday.

How are you? Have you done anymore testing or has AF arrived yet?
