4 weeks, 5 days worried about pregnancy test lines

Hello I’m 4 weeks, 5 days

I started off with v v faint lines and a clear blue digital saying 1-2 weeks. Internet cheap strips have gradually got darker but this morning it seemed lighter but I did it again 2 hours later and it was darker (see attached)

this afternoon I also did a clear blue digital that said 1-2 weeks

i did a clear blue due test (see attached ) and this line is darker than last time I tried one about 2 days ago.

I then did a boots test and I can barely see the line (see attached )

i know this is nuts to do so many tests in one day I’m overwhelmed by anxiety about this .

wondered if anyone has experienced similar? I don’t know why the tests are varying so much.

Hi @Becky12123,

I think it's hard to say when you're comparing tests from different brands as each will vary in sensitivity and amount of dye, etc.

I've found that I usually tend to get darker test lines in the afternoon/evening than I ever did first thing in the morning. I know it's really difficult (and far easier said than done) but please try to stop testing, the tests won't change the overall result and it sounds positive as your CB line has progressed. I really do regret testing so much in the first few weeks, but know how difficult it is as I was also so anxious about it x

@confused288 thanks so much for
your reply. Did you also use these digital tests? I’m 5 weeks and it’s still on 1-2 weeks! I’ve been googling away and some women say this happened and all was well, others say they ended up miscarrying. It’s so stressful! I’ve never been pregnant before never imagined it would be so stressful!

@Becky12123 I know exactly how you feel, I thought once I'd be pregnant I'd be happy and enjoy it but it really has been a time full of anxiety for me. I had a chemical pregnancy at around 5 weeks before I got pregnant on the next cycle. In that pregnancy I spotted from the day I got a faint positive and my lines didn't get any stronger until I started bleeding a few days later. If it's any consolation your lines are darker than mine ever got when I had the chemical pregnancy.

I didn't use the digital ones, just used the pink dye ones to see if they got stronger. Have you taken any more pink dye ones?

In regards to the digital It could be you ovulated later or you implanted later. I was convinced I was 12 weeks when I went for my scan and was actually only 11 try not to stress about it. You are pregnant thats the main thing.

As previously mentioned different tests will give varying strength of results. If you want to keep checking lines stick to the same test but honestly I think it'll increase your anxiety to keep testing.

I'd maybe recommend in a couple of weeks booking a private scan if you can. I found seeing the little bean with a flickering heartbeat helped My anxiety. But that would need to be between 7 and 8 weeks just to make sure you see everything.

@confused288 and @Pinkbumbles thanks so much for your responses. I’ll definitely get an early scan assuming I get that far.

i’m 5 weeks today and a digital this morning still said 1-2 weeks and a cheap strip I did there was the faintest line.

I did drink lots of water before bed though so I did some tests this afternoon : a clear blue dye and a first response and they look better ?

@Becky12123 they look like good line progressions to me! Whenever I did a test first thing in the morning it was always so much fainter and definitely much darker from 2pm onwards, no idea why as everything I read suggests the opposite!

Definitely get a scan if you can, I had one earlier this week at 7w 5d and seeing the heartbeat made me feel much better.

Hope everything goes well for you xx

Pinkbumbles · 06/05/2023 13:15

@Becky12123 they look excellent honestly. Don't worry too much about the digital they aren't 100% reliable the fact it says your pregnant is the main thing.

I had an early scan when I thought I was 8 weeks, they measured me 7+4, nhs scan would have put me at 7+0 then based on their dating. I gave birth on the due date the early scan gave me. Dates are hard to determine until about 12 weeks so try not to get too hung up on the digital dates

Oh and congrats!

Hi all I thought I’d update - alas the clear blue tests not moving before 1-2 weeks when I was 5 weeks 3 days seemed to indicate something was wrong - started bleeding yesterday , seems like standard period so am clearly miscarrying. Trying to stay positive and remember that this is fairly common and hopefully next time I’ll have more luck

thanks so much for all your messages
