I'm 3 days late, no sign of a period and a bundle of negative tests. Not even a shadow of a line.

I have a long cycle anyway but this is now day 38.

What is going on?!

Are you trying to conceive?

There are other things that can affect your cycle eg stress

BabyRace · 30/04/2023 08:24

Yeah, this is month 4 of ttc. I've been stressed at work but not that stressed. I had a huge bereavement before we started ttc and that didn't affect my period so I don't think work stress would.

I’m in exactly the same situation. My ovulation was 4 days late so I expected my period to be late too. Waited an extra 4 days but period still hasn’t arrived. Did a test and got w BFN. Usually I’m like clockwork, it feels so cruel to be late when TTC. I’m just hoping my period arrives tomorrow or later today. I’m on CD35 of a usually 29/30 day cycle.

I feel for you. My period came today and it felt like a massive blow. I'm gonna make a GP appointment because a 38 day cycle is not normal

I had a random 45 day cycle last month. No explanation for it, the only difference was that I started spotting on the day of my LH Peak. My period eventually came and I’ve ovulated again this month, waiting now to see if I’ve got a long cycle again.

I think you just need to wait it out unfortunately.

@BabyRace thanks lovely. I’m enjoying a large glass of wine guilt free and trying to think of the positives (my birthday in the next few weeks and it would’ve been a nightmare to try and hide being pregnant). I think if the long cycle has worried you there’s no harm checking it out with a GP (keep us updated).

@BabyRace I also want to reassure you that having a cycle be slightly longer than normal is pretty common occasionally. Mine was 35 days this month and I remember a few years ago I was just randomly over a week late (I wasn’t TTC at the time so freaked out) didn’t feel particularly stressed at the time and there was nothing that I could particularly pin point and then it all went back to normal.

BabyRace · 01/05/2023 20:06

In the last 8 cycles, it's been 35-8 5 times so quite a lot. Shortest has been 33 so it's above average to start with, but its such a big range. This period has been hell too, I've been in so much pain.

@BabyRace im sorry to hear you’re in pain. Definitely worth checking it if you’re worried even if it’s just to get some reassurance.

I feel you! I came off the pill in December and have had 2x 33 day cycles and currently on day 40 with approx 763 negative tests. I've been on the pill for a long time but always remember being having a normal 28 day, like close clockwork, cycle.

Hi @BabyRace if it makes you feel any better, my periods were mad for the last year, between 31 and 54 days - went and had private tests for PCOS that came back negative (both blood tests and scan). I had a chemical pregnancy in December, but am now nearly 20 weeks pregnant! So it does happen with a longer cycle, I think the cycle I conceived in January I ovulated about day 29. So it's still a bit of a mystery to me why my cycles were long (although the 54 day cycle was over my wedding when I was very stressed). I was taking prenatals, inositol and evening primrose (pre ovulation) and the month before I conceived I started on vitex (which a lot of women on here don't seem to like and only recommended if you have blood tests and have low LH and higher prolactin). I'm 32 if that's helpful at all.
