So confused!! Help me out with 23 day cycle

With my first, I had 28 day cycles and tested when I was 5 days late. Big positive, no doubt I was pregnant.

fastforward two years and this is our first month of TTC. My cycles are now 23/24 days with a month here or there of 27 days but mainly very regular to 23 days.

My period is now 7 days late but I’m testing negative. is it because my cycles are so short? Do I need to wait until I’m another week late? This is day 30 of my cycle.

help me out! Feel like I’m going nuts.

What CD did you ovulate? Your luteal phase shouldn't be less than 10 days. I'm currently 10 days late, 28 day cycle and on CD38 and just got a VVFL.

I don’t track ovulation so this all sounds like a foreign language to me but I think it was about day 10-12 maybe? That’s when I got egg white mucus which is generally a good sign.

so that would have been 5-7th April.

what does that mean for me?

Day 32 and still no positive test. Going slightly loopy now. Should I be worried?

If your cycle is 23 days you should ovulate on day 9, it's 14 days before your period. However short cycles could mean short luteal phases which sometimes cause a problem for TTC. I would suggest a few month of seeing when you ovulate, clear blue digital ones are the easiest to read, so you know if it could be a luteal phase problem, a short one can mean it doesn't give the embryo enough time to implant I believe. It could also be that you just ovulate early in your cycle? Tracking would help figure this out.
Unfortunately most gps won't do anything until two periods have been missed, missing a period isn't uncommon but so frustrating!

Thank you @DaisyMay25 . I’ve never missed a period in my life apart from pregnancy and breastfeeding. My cycles before my first were 28 days.

the only thing different about this cycle is a) we were trying and b) my period was 8 days long rather than 5 on average, so I don’t know if that effects anything.

will give it a few weeks to contact the Gp and if my period comes I will start getting some ovulation tests and learn all about ovulation.

with my first, I got pregnant in month 1 of trying so perhaps was a bit cocky this time!

@SunSparkle congratulations!!! Great news!! I'm due a Christmas baby too 😂

@SunSparkle did you get pregnant with your 23 day cycle? I am in my early 40s and TTC, my periods are between 23-26 days depending on the month. It's a bit random. But I am hopeful!

SunSparkle · 22/04/2024 17:54

@Sparks654 I did! Turns out I do ovulate very late in my cycle and have a very short luteal phase but once I stopped expecting ovulation to be earlier (based on a normal luteal phase), I got pregnant. Just keep using those ovulate strips all month long.

@SunSparkle - that is great news. I will buy one of those ovulation kits and the thermometer I think. Fingers crossed
