When to buy IVF meds

Hi all

I had my last appointment before starting IVF with the nurse today. We have scheduled my first scan for Monday as we expect my period to start on Saturday and Sunday. I haven't had a prescription for the meds yet.

Should I expect it after the scan on Monday? Will it be ok to get the meds that day as I am meant to start injections that night?

Sorry for all the questions but I forgot to ask today with all the other information and countless consent forms.

Thanks to anyone who can help :-)

Hello

fellow IVF-er here. I would give your clinic a quick call asap to ask, I’ve always had the meds ready to go ready for when I ring up when my period starts.
I’d query so then you have one thing ticked off the worry list! 🙏
Wishing you all the best! Xx

In 2020 I was under the NHS for IVF (on short protocol) and was told to call to confirm with the clinic then come in to pick up my meds the day my period started.

This time round I'm with a private clinic and I have a prescription that I'm getting filled tomorrow if I get a BFN on a test. My period is due next Tuesday.

Seems places do differ in terms of how they handle it but I think contacting them is the best idea here just to make sure :)

Thanks so much both - I ended up being delayed in starting but eventually I have and I bought the meds on the day. My clinic only prescribe me a little bit at a time in case my dose has to change etc.

Thanks so much for your messages - they really helped when I was in the middle of a complete panic. :-)
