Wait times at Homerton Fertility

Hi,

Does anyone know what wait times are like at Homerton Fertility at the moment? I'm about to be referred by my GP and want to be realistic about how long it would be for a first appointment (and also how long a wait for further investigations/treatment). Last threads I can find on it are from last year, and it seems things were taking ages - hoping that it's a bit better now.

Thanks :)

I am in similar situation and I hear the waiting list is so long based on a few google searches. I am hoping things have improved so anyone with a real update would be great.

Hi @MissLucyLiu
From my experience so far, wait times for appointments and testing aren't that awful, but the actual wait for IVF treatment stills seems like it is pretty bad.

It took about 2 months from my referral to initial appointment. They then sent me off to do some more blood tests, and now I'm waiting for them to review them and tell me next steps. I expect to hear from them sometime this month (so probably 6-8 weeks from the initial appointment). I think one thing that can slow you down is semen analysis - it seems to be a 3 month wait. Luckily we'd had one done through them just before referral (having waited 4 months for a slot), so we didn't need to do it again, otherwise things would have been held up for that. They won't accept one done elsewhere, it seems.

If I've understood them correctly, as long as my bloods are ok then I can go on the IVF waitlist straight away, but they will probably also send me for HSG/hycosy to see if my tubes are blocked.

I was told at the appointment that the wait time for IVF is one year. I was gutted to be honest, and I think that once I've done all the testing through them, we will have to go private because of my age.

Hope that is helpful. If I find out anything that I think will be helpful I'll try to remember to update this.
