DH to try just once during FW?

We've been trying for a while now and have had all the fertility checks etc all come back with no issues, we're reluctant to go down IVF route as we want to try "naturally" for a bit longer.

DH wants to try DTD just the once during fertile window as close to ovulation as possible as we have tried other methods, SMEP, every other day, every day 😰, I feel this would be a "waste of a month of trying" but at the same time we haven't tried this way.

Has anyone else conceived this way whilst TTC?

The month I concieved I only dtd twice the entire month. Been trying since my miscarriage with doing it 4-5 times in fertile window and nothing. Maybe he's onto something 🤷🏼‍♀️ honestly think it's just luck tho

All 3 times I conceived we had only DTD once during the ‘fertile period’! Unfortunately I had a MMC, and a CP but currently 6.5 weeks pregnant at the moment with number 3. My and the other half are amazed at how lucky we have been when
only having one go at it!! Good luck x

@uop21 Awww thanks! Tbh we weren’t trying it as a method, it was more life got in the way and that was the only time we had together, but equally we’ve had months
when the deed has been done a lot and there was no pregnancy …..so yeah it’s 100% worth a go! ❤️

Aww bless you. Just goes to show you haven't got to be doing it all the time to fall pregnant and it only takes one quality moment for that to happen 😊 what a lovely surprise, how did you feel when you saw a BFP?

We were the same as you op, heading for IVF having tried smep, every other day, daily and even a cycle of twice a day in fertile week. After starting initial tests at fertility clinic, we DTD once after taking one opk that cycle which was peak, not as a strategy, just because I think I had TTC fatigue. I got pregnant that month. She's 2. Now hoping for similar luck ttc #2. Good luck xx

I did it just once and conceived 🙊 was not trying as I had a chemical last month and decided to wait till later in the year to try again but its happened and just hope it sticks. X

No harm in giving it a try, and might take the pressure off too - when I conceived this time we'd only had sex once around ovulation. I was sure I wouldn't be pregnant but took a test as my period was a couple of days late (not unusual for me) and I wanted to have a glass of wine. No wine for me that night!!

Took nine months to conceived our first with lots of trying (and DH feeling the pressure of it), took four months to conceive our second with very little effort at all - fertility is weird.

Thank you for replying. Yes DH is feeling the pressure especially as we've been trying for what feels like a long time. So we're going to take the casual approach and hopefully we will have a bit of luck this way 🍀

Happened for me too
Took 6 months to get pregnant when we were doing it as much as possible in the fertile period.
With the last baby we just did it once and it happened to be within the fertile period and I was pregnant straight away.
