Hi guys, I’m currently miscarrying (test became progressively worse and have started to bleed) this is my first miscarriage, and just wondering if I need a period before TTC or does the bleed from this miscarriage count as LMP? Sorry probably stupid questions just have been lucky enough not to know before now ☹️

@Dani46 yeah the waiting around when you know it's over is the absolute worst! Last time I found out at a private scan on a Saturday, managed to get an EPU scan on the Monday so it wasn't so bad but that one was a real shock because I'd had a good scan with a good heartbeat at 7 weeks. This time round I was expecting it for ages and (not in a nasty way) was just waiting for it to be over. Every additional appointment was just frustrating.

I've not had heavy periods either! I just took night time ones around as they seemed best.

Giving up smoking is hard! Took my brother ages. But it's worth doing, just think of all the money you'll save! 😂 Someone I know took the money from every packet they would have bought after they quit, saved it and now has £40k in investments! It's mental.

I hope Monday you get sorted so you can move on. You going to try again right away?x

Dani46 · 21/07/2023 09:37

Sounds a bit like my situation the first time round. We had a good heartbeat and the woman who scanned me said everything looked normal and couldn’t see any problems. I’ve had a scan an epu but there re scanning me Monday which is frustrating. We know it’s gone.
That’s also a lot of savings! Unfortunately, instead of me putting it away I would spend it all on pjs 🤣

I do think I’m going to try, but we’re just going to see what happens. I don’t know whether to track my ovulation or just go with it. I may track it for the first few months then not. It was really accurate before this just using the Flo app xx

Dani46 · 21/07/2023 09:38

Are you going to try again? Xx

moosey89 · 21/07/2023 09:57

Can't beat good pjs 😂

Yeah I'm going to track as soon as I get a negative test, and we'll try again right away. First time it took me 2.5 years to conceive so that loss broke me completely. This time was 6 months so I'm feeling more able to try again if that makes sense xx

Dani46 · 21/07/2023 14:01

Yeh, totally makes sense!
Im going to make sure my body is completely ready too and start taking pre conception vitamins, I’m wondering though the pregnacare vitamins I was on should also have the same in there shouldn’t they?
I do wish you the best! Keep me updated, would be lovely to keep in touch maybe on here and hopefully you do have your positive test sooner 🌈

moosey89 · 21/07/2023 15:19

@Dani46 I know Pregnacare have a conception version, not sure how different it is to their pregnancy ones! Most important bits are folic acid and vitamin D, and B12 is apparently good too. On recommendation from a friend I've just got Pregna-Plan Pregnancy Multivitamin which looks like it has everything in it and then some haha so should have all bases covered 🙂 I'm also starting reflexology and accupuncture next week x

moosey89 · 21/07/2023 15:19

P.s. yes definitely stay in touch! Would be lovely to hear you have good news in the coming months xx

Dani46 · 21/07/2023 15:22

@moosey89 let me know what the reflexology and accupuncture is like. Does this also help? I’ve also found on Amazon a conceive plus lubricant. I don’t know if that will just be a con but I may purchase to try it. Are you from the uk also? Xx

moosey89 · 21/07/2023 15:41

@Dani46 I use conceive plus - we use lube anyway so made sense to have a conception friendly one!
I've heard loads of good outcomes from both reflexology and accupuncture for fertility - for me reflexology really helps me relax and is worth it for that if nothing else 😊
Yep I'm UK based, from Surrey x

Hi @Dani46
@moosey89 and I have already traded messages in another thread because our situations are really similar.
I had a scan around 7 weeks- good heartbeat and growth, was told everything was in the right place. I had another at what should be 10 weeks-ish to find out that the baby/heartbeat had stopped a week earlier.
I had that private scan Monday 10th, NHS confirmed missed miss carriage last Thursday, had the surgery last Friday, had to stay in overnight on an IV drip due to my bloods showing infection and then was discharged on Saturday. The procedure itself went really well, I had zero pain, took no pain meds, and woke up to just spotting which lasted a few days and has stopped.
Ive had a negative pregnancy test this morning, although my ovulation tests all show strong LH which I think it’s confusing with really low levels of HCG that a pregnancy test isn’t picking up. I’ve done a lot of reading and didn’t realise that some people use ovulation tests as really early pregnancy tests because they’re so sensitive to hormone changes.

I also plan on ttc as quickly as I can. Probably why im already testing a bit obsessively because I just want clarity on what’s going on down there.

it would be great if the 3 of us could keep in touch. Although I’ve not kept this a secret and my friends have been SO kind, I’ve still found this a really lonely experience.

got everything crossed for you both. Xxxx

Dani46 · 22/07/2023 09:58

@HashB , would love to keep in touch! Im
hlad that everything has gone well so far too. I do want to ttc as soon as I can.
I too will be checking ovulation all the time!
Im hoping I have my d&c on Tuesday, I’ve got another appointment Monday which I’ve been told I will probably get the pre op done then also xx

ginny93 · 01/08/2023 14:26

I was lurking on the Feb thread but I found out last Friday (12 week scan) that I've had a MMC - no heartbeat and measuring 8+5. I'm hoping to have a MVA next Thursday, but it just seems so long to wait. Just wanted to chime in here because it's comforting (and horrible) to know that others are going through the same thing ❤

moosey89 · 01/08/2023 14:33

@ginny93 so sorry :( I was in the Feb thread too, MMCs are horrible, I just had my second 2 weeks ago. We're all here in this together, pop a message on here if you ever need support, this thread is super lovely x

Dani46 · 01/08/2023 17:55

@ginny93 I’m so sorry! I was also in the feb thread. If you ever need anything or any questions just ask on here like @moosey89 has said. Xx

rs94 · 11/08/2023 09:44

Hi all, I've been reading through threads and threads trying to get some help and info (and reassurance). We had a miscarriage at 8 weeks and I feel like there is so much info online, but i'm overwhelmed with it all

I had medical management a week after (I was on holiday when it happened) and had a negative test a few days after. I'm obsessed with tracking on Flow and have read a few places that the day you start bleeding after you miscarriage is day 1 of your cycle? Is that correct? I'm desperate to try again for our first baby but I want to make sure my dates are correct for my own piece of mind.

Any info would be great. I'm so sorry to hear all of your stories but I really find comfort in being open and speaking about things. So thank you. R x

ttcttc · 11/08/2023 09:55

@rs94 I found it wasn't an exact science. You'd usually class it as your first day with the bleeding but you may be a bit irregular for a while (you may not be)

I miscarried in December. I started bleeding around 20th (I think). Christmas night into boxing morning the bleeding and pain ramped up and I passed the sac. (I think I was maybe 7/8 week.. hard to say).

I didn't go to the hospital for the scan as I was confident it was over for me. I took a pregnancy test a week or so later and it was negative (I think 4th Jan but not confident on date).

Because I didn't have any medical help I decided to track my ovulation to see that my body was returning to normal and "doing it's thing".

I got some cheap tests off eBay or Amazon and used the pre mom app. I had my first period 19th December and I tested positive 11th Feb. I'm 30 week pregnant tomorrow.

So you can assume your first day is the day of your period and everything will align like the internet says or you could track your ovulation. Choice is yours, I hope it all works out as you hope 🤞🏼 🥰

ttcttc · 11/08/2023 09:55

Sorry 19th Jan I had my period

rs94 · 11/08/2023 10:04

Thank you for sharing. And congratulations.

I feel positive for next time. For whatever reason this wasn't meant to happen so I've accepted that. I'm going to try not get too hung up on my previous dates and just wait for my next period.

R

moosey89 · 11/08/2023 10:17

@rs94 I'm sorry for your loss :(

With a chemical pregnancy/really early loss, you can usually count day 1 of bleeding like day 1 of your cycle. Unfortunately as you go further through a pregnancy it gets more complicated and doesn't really work that way I'm afraid. The only time you can be sure of day 1 of your cycle is when you next get your period.

The most accurate you can be dates wise is to know when you ovulate as the standard measure is that this would be around day 14 of a 'normal' cycle so you can do the maths to get dates right. I've been tracking for ovulation since I got a negative test after surgical management (surgery was 3 weeks ago, negative test just over 2 weeks ago, bloomin flashing smiley for 9 days so far, so still no peak). If you're not too bothered about this very first cycle, then I'd say keep having sex when you feel like it, and if your period arrives then you can start again properly then x

ttcttc · 11/08/2023 10:57

@rs94 stay positive. Your time will come. I ovulated day 12 of my cycle.. had I not have tracked I'd have missed that potentially by day 14. Just remember no two bodies are the same 😊
