When can a yolk sac be seen on an ultrasound?

Had an early scan at 5w1d and there was a gestational sac but no yolk sac. Been told it's probably too early to see it but I can't help but worry.

When we're you able to see a yolk sac on an early scan?

Thanks

Was it an internal scan?

Well I wouldn't be worried yet so. With both my miscarriages the could find sac/yolk but no pole that was at 8 and 10 weeks.

With my successful pregnancy they found 2 sacs but only 1 ended up with a heartbeat. My first scan they could only see the sacs. That was an internal at 5 ish weeks I think. Confirmed only 1 was viable at 7 weeks

It's so so hard waiting to find out. But if they can see it with an external scan I would be hopeful still

Sonographer here, I’d say not to worry if it was only an abdominal scan OP! They are notoriously hard to see on a TA scan and I’d nearly always need to do an internal scan to see one at just 5 weeks.

Thanks for the reassurance. When do you start to see them using an abdominal US?
