Did IVF with very low AMH work for you?

Hi there,
Newbie here looking to hear your experiences with very low AMH and IVF!
I had my AMH checked and it was 2.0 pmol so very low, the AFC was 9, and I'm 38 years old. I'm at the point where I'm planning on TTC but very aware that age is not on my side and neither is the AMH!
I've been advised to ttc naturally at this stage, take supplements, lead a healthy lifestyle etc to try to get the egg quality up but I'm intrigued to know if that doesn't work whether IVF would even work with my own eggs due to probably being a poor responder to the meds. I'm trying to get my head around the options! The fertility specialist said that a reduced ovarian reserve would require more IVF cycles.
So I guess I'd like to know if IVF lead to a BFP with very low AMH for you?
Thankyou :-)

Mine was 1.44 but I was 31 and 34 when I had mine so egg quality may have been slightly better. We had 4 rounds and the last two were successful and those last two were both with the same clinic. I was told we could try naturally but it would take longer and we didn't feel we had time on our side.

On all cycles we had no more than 8 eggs /5 embryos. And in the last cycle only ended up with one embryo but that was successful so there is hope.

We went with care fertility for the last two rounds who we thought were brilliant. Our first two rounds with another clinic just were no where near as professionally done - so I think looking at the success rates of the clinic is really important

If I were you and you can afford it- I'd just go for it rather than waiting naturally.

Hi @Foxes38 I already had a child but after trying for a few years for number 2, I had my amh tested and it was pretty low at 3. I was 39 at that point and I'd kind of given up but still wasn't using contraception. To my surprise, I conceived naturally 2 years later and I'm due soon. I've no concrete advice but certainly, going on my experience, conception isn't impossible with low amh. However, I already had a child. If you're going to ttc for the first time, you might want to move towards ivf if time is of the essence.

Thankyou so much for replying and sharing your experiences! It's good to know that you both conceived either naturally or through IVF!
